This is my favorite book. If you havnt ever read it then I urge you to do so.

A mining town and its people are transposed to germany in the middle of the 30 years war. Faced with violence and death all around the gun toting town folk set out to establish a piece of america on german soil, and kick alot of ass in the process. with modern day firearms and technology the the americans provide a refuge for all that have become victim and set out to change the history of the western world.

its a great read for anyone interested in american freedoms and the RKBA as well as revolution.

There's also a sequel, with the very original title "1633.", by the same author.
Initially, I've found the plot of the books rather intriguing (I've lived in both cultures), but the story line is rather thin and stretched to a point where you just want to toss the book into a corner and yell "Bullshit! Alternative history or not, THAT would never happen, this person would never act THIS way."
But there's other good stuff at BAEN. Nothing that would earn any Nobel prizes for literature, but entertaining enough. I recommend the (currently) tetralogy of "Hymn before Battle", and it's two-and-a-half sequels, by Johnny Ringo. (The fourth book is really just the tail-end of the 3rd).

Flint is a good writer...1633 is better however than 1632 because of David Weber's contribution.  I've had IM and email conversations with Flint---he's an interesting guy with some interesting politics.  Don't run into too many pro-gun, pro-business socialists...

1632 is prety good for action
1633 Is alot better story, but alot drier.
They have like 5 more books contracted for in the series, Some with FLint and weber and soem with FLint and someone else.

John Ringo is a great author, and further right than Eric is left.....
Read HYMN BEFORE BATTLE available free in the Baen Free library.
And David weber is great always.

If you like big tanks read the BOLO series.

BAEN has some good fantasy as well.

Is 1633 available online?

I bought one of their books and it came with a CD with most of their books on the CD.   1633 too.

Another good series are the Belisarius Series books.   Some of those are online.
