I don't know about the Cav guards, but the double-shielded M4s have offset holes, so you can't mount anything.

That's the old style Cav handguards, the new ones have heatshields with vent holes corresponding to the holes in the plastic.
I've found that the heatshields are pretty much unnecessary, and just help to keep the heat trapped in the barrel area. You may want to just ditch the shield in the bottom half, especially if you're installing a vertical grip and won't even be handling the handguard directly- it'll help let the heat out. If it 's an issue shoot me your address and I'll send you a set of new style heatshields, or send me your handguards and I'll swap them for the new style. -Cory [email protected] |

They have a single aluminum heat shield...Colt maintains a patent on the double heatshield. While they are neccessary for the type of plastic and molding process Colt uses, they are totally unneccessary on our handguards. The only reason they come with them is people expect them to be there. Our new handgaurds have holes in the heatshield that line up for this very reason...the old style were preventing people from easily installing accessories. And those heatshields were more expensive too. I think the new handguards look even better cosmetically too. |

It's the same plastic, just a newer mold and improved heatshields. Sorry for the confusion. Address received, I'll get these shipped Tuesday and I'll put your old set on one of my personal rifles when it arrives. |

Check with Advanced Armaments. They make a picatinney rail specifically for mounting stuff on the lower M4 hand guard. HTH

This isn't exactly an offer I'm making any money on, I'm swapping something in my inventory(already paid for) for a part that was bought elsewhere that I obviously can't sell as new. I'm willing to take the loss in this case to make sure a potential future customer is happy with a product I carry.
