Jarhead,

You'll need an FTP program to upload pics to your storage on your ISP's site.  WS_FTP is a good freeware program.

You also need to know how to address your upload area both for uploading and for linking from the outside world.

As an example only, suppose your ISP is bootcamp.com and your user ID is numnuts. [;)]  You would have a host name like users.bootcamp.com and a userID of numnuts.  Once you uploaded a pic to your area, say yessir.jpg, you could view it in any browser by pointing it to www.bootcamp.com/~numnuts/yessir.jpg.

This is one common scheme, there are others.  Your ISP should be able to help you out with this.

Got this from here

Here you go:

Q. What happened to my personal webpage or domain hosted by FlashNet?

A. When your account was moved to Prodigy Internet, there were no changes made to your personal webpage or domain Continue to use the same hostname (ftpusers.flash.net) to ftp and update your page. Also, use the same URLs to access your webpage; continue to use www.flash.net/~username or home.flash.net/~username to access your webpage with a browser.
If you are a domain customer, you can access and update your web pages the same as you did with Flashnet. Continue to use www.domainname.com to access your webpage with a browser

Q. How do I access and/or edit my FlashNet Personal Homepage?

A. In order to access your Flashnet Personal Home Page, using WS-FTP:
In the host box, type, "ftpusers.flash.net"
For username, type your FlashNet username without "@flash.net"
Note: Use your Primary Username
For your password, type in your password.
For your default directory, type "www"
Click on the connect button
Note: The windowpane on your left is your local computer. The windowpane on your right is your website.
When opening Internet Explorer:
In the address box, type ftp://[email protected]/www
A dialog box will appear asking you to login. You will need to enter your password

Q What is FTP?

A. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is the best means for moving large files across the internet. FTP is a client/server protocol that enables a user with an FTP client to log on to a remote machine, navigate the filesystem of that remote machine, and upload and download files from that machine. There are two basic types of FTP on the internet, anonymous ftp and private ftp. With anonymous ftp, you can log in as a user anonymously, giving your email address as the password. With private FTP, you can log in with your username and password that you have established on that particular system. You are logged into your home directory, with all the file permissions you would normally have there.

Q. Why does my url have this "~" in it?

A. The scribbly horizontal line (~) is called a tilde (pronounced "tilda"). The tilde is located on the upper left on most keyboards, usually above the backquote. Traditionally, a UNIX user's home directory has been known as ~. Therefore, hostname.domain.name/~username is the generic form for a user's home web space, located in his or her www directory. When the Web server sees a URL like this, it knows to look in username's home directory for a www directory.

Q. If I am a FlashNet member who does not have a personal web page, how do I get one?

A. If you were a FlashNet member and do not currently have a personal website, please go to: pages.prodigy.net . Here you will find Prodigy Personal Web Pages. Prodigy Personal Web Pages (PWPs) are a great way to tell the world a bit about yourself! You can develop a site based on your interests and hobbies, or post pictures of your children or vacation for far-away friends and relatives to enjoy. For beginners, we offer Prodigy Building Blocks™, which makes it easy to develop a working site in no time.

Confused yet?
