Ari is leaving, now Whitman is bailing out. All on the heels of Garner being fired in Iraq. Is something coming up these people don't want to be around for?

Ari is just going out at the top of his game, and like others have said, Whitman had it coming

Correct.  When I heard this on the news yesterday, they said she "didn't garner much support for her initiatives, such as battling global warming pollution, from the Administration, and she has been able to accomplish very little overall. It is hoped she will be replaced with a moderate."  "Moderate" in this context means another POS liberal.

Hoped by who??? This is a great opportunity for Bush!!

Her leaving is a GOOD thing.  Ari Fleischer I like, but he seems to be going after the money.  I can't blame him, plus that job, while important, is not difficult to fill, so it's no big deal.  Now that the war is over, I'd like to see Secretary Rumsfeld take over--he knows how to handle the Press pukes.  Heh  [:D]

Rummie is something to watch with the press. Bush is too, but in a different style. Both can be impressive...And funny!

When Whitman was governor of NJ you people looked the other way when she supported the assault weapon ban and all sorts of tree hugger policies, BECAUSE SHE WAS A REPUBLICAN. Even after all of that when Whitman was named as one of the key speakers at the GOP Convention you people looked the other way, BECAUSE SHE WAS A REPUBLICAN.

Take the damn horse blinders and rose colored glasses for once and keep these people out of office in the first place.

No I didn't.  I'm from Illinois, where we can only vote for Democrats twice every election.

Yes, but it is almost universally rejected by gop sheeple who would rather have an anti-gun republican in office.

Rather than what?  Have an anti-gun Democrat in office?

I'd take an anti-gun Republican who will lower taxes over an anti-gun Democrat who will raise taxes any day.  Most anti-gun Republicans don't get a lot of support from their base anyway.

RINO's only get elected in Liberal areas, where the only other alternative is a Liberal Democrat.

I'm pretty much a Libertarian.  If I were to become president the Arab/Muslim world would turn to glass and there wouldn't be any Patriot Act or any of the other shit like it.  To paraphrase LBJ and alter it.  American boys shouldn't be losing their freedom, that's what should happen to those Arab boys.

Here is her complete whine. Why was this cow taken into the adminsitration in the first place? Or even into the Republican party? NOTHING she says or does is consistant with republicanism.

WASHINGTON (May 22) - A day after announcing she would quit as Environmental Protection Agency chief, Christine Todd Whitman said on Thursday President George W. Bush had been "hurt" by his administration's inability to explain unpopular environmental decisions.

Whitman, who said her decision to leave was for personal reasons, voiced frustration over how the United States pulled out of the international Kyoto treaty on global warming and said an about-turn on cutting carbon dioxide emissions had also harmed Bush's image at home and abroad.

"I think the two combined have hurt him unfairly. I think there's a very good case for both," Whitman said in an interview with NBC's "Today" show.

She said the administration had not explained the Kyoto decision clearly enough, especially to European countries who were harshly critical of the move.

"We should have laid out the fact that we weren't walking away from a commitment to addressing climate change because the administration is not. We are doing an awful lot that most people don't know about," Whitman said.

"Instead we just sort of said, 'We are not doing Kyoto,' and didn't say anything else. So to the Europeans it looked like we didn't care about the issue."

Whitman, a former governor of New Jersey, said when she had meetings with G8 countries, she was constantly forced to defend the U.S. decision on Kyoto. "It hurt the president," she said.

Another disappointment, said Whitman, was the reversal of a promise by Bush during his presidential campaign to cut carbon dioxide emissions. "It caught me by surprise, that one," she said.

Whitman said the reversal was based on the fact that Bush realized a "hard carbon cap" would have caused a shift to more oil and gas usage and resulted in either more oil imports or greater exploitation.

She said the U.S. public was open to a change of mind if the reasons were explained. "You need to say, 'This is why I have changed my mind. It's not just because I woke up one day and said carbon is not a good idea'."

Environmental groups were constantly at odds with Whitman, who joined the administration in January 2001. They said she promoted pro-business policies of the Bush administration that often conflicted with her environmental protection actions when she was governor of New Jersey.

"You can't worry about what people are saying. You have got to worry about whether it is good policy," Whitman said of the criticism.

Whitman's resignation is effective June 27.

What is happening is a purge of compromise canidates that Bush was forced to accept when he didn't control both houses of congress.

More people who are too far to the Left of GW's personal beliefs will be "retiring" or getting the ax as the administration retools for the election campaign.

What's wrong with the Bush Administration?

They are collectivist, imperialist, totalitarian, socialist, tyrants, and traitors to The Constitution of the Founding Fathers.

Bush, Powell, Rummy, Ashcroft, and 99% of the Republican Congress have been a terrible disappointment to me.

That's just a start.......

I would bail out too!

I love my country, but the government is another issue........

So, I guess you would rather have the Dems who, instead of going after assholes like Saddam, would be here focusing on taking our guns.

Or maybe you would rather have Harry "we deserved Sept 11" Browne.

I love how you left wingers love to use the word "imperialist" and apparently have no clue as to what it means.  If we are building an empire, would you please tell me where.

It's been this way for every president.  Some stay, some go.  I wouldn't put too much stock in it.  Whitman was probably put in there to aid in the appearance of diversity anyway.  As long as Bush keeps his core group of rag-head killing, oil thirsty good-old boys around you know everything is GTG.  If Rumsfield or Cheney ever leave... well, then it's time to start worrying.

There was a news report in the NYTimes that if anybody is staying past the July 31, the Prez expected them to stay for the duration, so everybody who wants to bail, now is the time to do it.

Whitman was put as head of the EPA as window dressing. I think Bush Jr. wanted to give the impression that his administration is diverse.

at the very least, they get the chance to leave and "bail out" ALIVE.

in the Klintoon administration, they mysteriously die.
