Doesnt 1400 a year sound high for a 7 year old Ducati 916 . I am 39 years old a decent driving record , does anyone have a suggestion for an insurance company? I got that quote from Pregressive.

Thanks, Ropes

Sounds very high to me. Try State Farm, Dairyland etc.. Also many NC dealers are insurance dealers also. Call around. I pay appx $300 per year for my HD's & my Indian.

Call Dairyland, my insurance bill was never over $300, more like $250, and that was on a brand new bike.

Got rid of her last year though, tired of doing battle with the local ROCK Haulers............ those bastards will kill ya

It sounds like rape.

I have a plane valued at $75,000 and the insurance is less than that.  That's for $1mil liability per event, and all hazards on the hull, including coverage for engine rebuild after a propstrike.  I'm willing to bet an engine overhaul would cost significantly more than a 7 year old Ducati.

Insurance for all 4 of my road vehicles (including 2 Harleys 97&03) is only $1200 year.

That sounds a little high.  My insurance for for a 1998 VTR 100 is $90/ month with Progressive.  It was $180/month with Allstate.

BTW I'm 34

Nope, I don't recollect seeing any Red River Trucking (come to think of it do they drive the blue rigs?). Of course, I never paid much attention.

Just tried to get the hell out of their way.
I live north of Denton and rode hwy 380 on a regular basis.

Someone always biting the bullet on hwy 380.

I have ridden half way across this great country a couple of times and have never had any problems except on hwy 380.

Those Rock Buckets get paid "By-The-Load", and they sure drive like it. Had one damn near slide over the top of me at a red light on loop 288 and 380. TWICE. My guess is that they were trying to get that one extra load in for the day and did not want to stop,Or were half asleep,or Head in ass ?

The guys I used to ride with used to joke about how a fellow must have to run over a few people before the state would give you liscense to drive a rock bucket......----YES, IT IS THAT BAD!!

......BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RRT kills a few people a year in the Paris area, it is a shame noone does anything about it.

I got a local insurance agent that will list me as married and I can get insured for 900 a year. He says the 916 is one of the most expensive bikes to insure.

Weird.  I got quoted $197/yr from progessive for my Yamaha V Star 650 Custom. Maybe it is because it is a small engine?  Maybe because it is a cruiser and not a sport bike?  I don't understand.  Full coverage too.

Ducati is expensive to repair if dropped.

I have progressive and saved a TON of money... Go to their web site and fill out the online app for an estimate.

Are you getting full coverage?

What agent did you use for the $1400 quote?

PS: I pay $500-$650 per year for full coverage. Don't remember all of the details. You don't need certain coverages that are covered by others too...

WTF!!!
I have full coverage comprehensive and collision on my 2002 HD-VROD thru Progressive for only $600 per year. No insult to your Ducati, but you could buy three of them for what a VROD costs decked-out ($25,000 fully-loaded new)and I'm 41 yoa.

My bike is naked... designed that way, but has a small nose-cone fairing. Have you seen it? You like it? hint hint hint... Very low mileage. (I really want an R1 or something.)

Is the one pictured for sale? If so, what's he asking and how many miles?

380 makes me edgy, especially at the Denton/Wise County line.  3 out of 5 times I use 380 there's an injury or fatality wreck in that area.

Energizer, that's from a gallery of owner's bikes. I don't think it's for sale (it's in the UK anyway). What bike do you have now? I've been thinking of trading the 4-wheeler to help fund a street bike purchase.

ZR7S in candy red. Not the ZR7, which is the model without the front fairing. Foot pegs are positioned so you sit comfortably, and the handlebars are "normal" I guess. You can still lie down on it, but not like your traditional sport bikes.

PS: its a 750cc, really a 738cc (I guess that helps for insuance purposes). Less than 4K miles. Don't really race it or anything.

I have state farm on my Jeep: they are overpriced for full coverage on bikes. I think they said to insure my new bike would be about $1200 per year, or was that 6 months? I forget... they said that I should go elsewhere to get it cheaper, and I did.

Progressive charges me over $2,000 for my 2000 CBR 929 Honda.  I am married and all of my speeding tickets are over 5 years old.  The problem is no one will touch that bike in Hawaii.  Also no one is offering me insurance under it.  Geico said they would pick me up for $2,500 and I just about shit my self.  WTF is all I want to know.  If you find a good company IM me and tell me because I am tired of this.

The locl insurance agent told me that the 916 is rated at 265% of the sport bike price because it is a race bike with lights. It appears that any of the liter class sport bikes are going to cost alot to own. I have one quote for 900 a year if I claim I am married. If the bike is as nice as it looks in the pics I will pick it up and worry about the insurance then. If it falls through I will look at a 748/749s as the insurance on that bike is less than 500 a year.

We should all go riding together.. Bung should buy a tricked M900 Ducati, Deep Ellum has about 200 sportbikes lined up every friday and saturday. It looks like fun ;o)

I'm paying USAA about $1150 per year for a new $30k custom HD Fat Boy with full coverage and 100k/100k/300k limits on liability and UIM.

Don't forget: the insurance prices change depending on region, coverage, size of engine, type of bike, how old it is, etc.

How much is the Duc you are looking at? and how old? Maybe just get liability?

Oh yeah-- is the M900 the tricked out Monster?
Link Posted: 5/21/2003 11:27:22 AM EDT

The monster is a M900 and you can trick them out pretty easily since they are nekid.

The bike is a 95 916 I would post a pic but I can never figure out how. It is gorgeous and gives me wood just looking at it, all ducatis have that effect on me.

With full coverage on a crotch rocket that is what a lot of companies are going to charge you.

There is a ton of cool stuff you can add to a TL1000 to make it a rocket.

I have always wanted a Ducati and think I am just going to get one, even if it sits in the living room while i fondle myelf.. I mean polish the can.. you know wax it - the tank that is.. perverts.

It's a 2002 Royal Enfield (book value is $4500 or so)
No performance bike by any means- basically an antique with a warranty- but it is a hell of a lot of fun. There is not a single thing I need to send it to a mechanic or shop for. They are not as reliable as todays models, but they are damn near unbreakable, and easily repairable by anyone who can fix a small engine.
I wouldn't part with it for anything. Oh and it's a "military" model 500, so it's painted OG, including the engine, and it's got saddlebags that look a lot like ammo cans.
really unique bikes.
As far as coverage, I paid cash for it, so I only got minimal (state minimum+uninsured motorist)coverage and a $250 Deduct.

Actually, USAA will tell you that they're not the best thing going for motorcycle insurance.  They tend to beat most of the big players on 4 wheelers, but their twowheeler coverage sucks.  They basically dont WANT to be in the motorcycle game, so they have high rates.  I have them for my truck and bike, and if I can ever remember to call I'm going to get the bike away from them.  I pay $1k total for 6 months for both vehicles.
