The Exorcist is one of the very few that really scared me because to me it was believable.Zombie,Vampire,Chud,Werewolve etc,I love to watch but they don't scare me because I don't believe in zombie,vampire etc.Now demonic possession...I can believe that.I love Dawn of the Dead,Night Breed is good,Army of Darkness and the 1st 2 Return of the Living Dead are good tongue in cheek horror movies.

Creep Show The Exorcist Texas Chainsaw Massacre Hellraiser I was never big into zombie movies, but The Serpent and the Rainbow was pretty good. The scene where this guy drives a stake through another guys balls still gives me the heebie-jeebies. |

I remember I loved Jaws, Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead...Poltergeist..any of them.. umm..tremors sucked.. Psycho, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Thirteen ghosts is good, Amityville horror, umm..Darkness Falls made me jump a few times..there's a new one for ya. I'll come back later if I can think of any more. [:D] Oooh, and the Hellraisers!

"John Carpenter's The Thing" is probably the best of the genre.

BTW, I rented a pretty good horror movie yesterday called "Below". Very well made for a straight-to-video B movie. It's about an American sub that begins to experience very weird paranormal activities after picking up three survivors from a torpedoed British hospital ship. |

"Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" scared the crap outta me when I was a kid, also "Journey to the Center Of the Earth"(the skeleton at the end), "Psycho", "The Screaming Skull", "The Haunting", "The Thing".
Aaah, "Nightmare Theater" on Friday nights and B horror/science fiction movies Sunday afternoons. |

I liked the 1970's-era movie "Garoyles"...well, upto the part when they started talking in English, that was kinda hokey.
The other, a movie called "Don't be afraid of the dark". It had Uncle Charley from My Three Sons. It was about some little demon creatures that lived in an old fireplace chimney. |

The Shining Poltergeist Halloween Pet Sematary (very underrated - still gives me the creeps) Children of the Corn I like many of the others listed, but for some reason the above ones just "bother" me - which I guess means they are doing there job. |

Favorite would have to be "The Last Man on Earth", good filming of "I am Legend" starring Vincent Price. Way better than "The Omega Man" starring President Heston.

The exorcist is pretty friggin creepy.
I havn't seen it in a while so I don't know if it would be cheesy now or not. I saw it when I was 12-13 and it scared the shit outta me. The original Hellraiser was pretty creepy too. What about the original Freddy Kruger movie?Can't remember what they're called. Chritstine is a good one. I consider Alien to be a horror flick aswell. |

I'm a bit of a horror movie aficionado.
Someone mentioned the Re-Animator. That was indeed an incredible movie. For good zombie flicks, check out Zombie and Zombie 3 directed by Lucio Fulci. And probably my favorite horror movie, the only movie that actually gives me the willies is [i]The Beyond[/i] also by Fulci. Definately check that one out! As a kid, I watched all the classics on Creature Feature---usually from underneath a chair.
Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy...all the old horror flicks. Also old monster movies like It, Terror From Beyond Space (the inspiration for Alien), The Creature From the Black Lagoon and my childhood favorite: Tarantula. My modern horror favorites are: Exorcist III, The Thing (John Carpenter version), Prince of Darkness and Shadow of the Vampire. |
