Has there been a thread on this song yet? I swear it is the most OVERPLAYED song since "Achy Brakey Heart" - and at least you could avoid "Achy Brakey Heart" by turning on a pop music station. This damn song these days is EVERYWHERE!!!!

Edited to explain: There is a damn duet between Kid Rock and [s]Melissa Etheridge[/s] (SP?)CORRECTED:Cheryl Crowe they play here in the states ALL THE TIME. The first words of the song are my subject of this thread.

I only got back to the states a month ago, and still do not have my CDs or a TV - so I have been listening to the radio a lot. I swear lately I have been afraid to turn the radio on for fear of hearing this song again!

I was back home in the States last week, and I think I heard maybe 5 different songs on the radio stations.  Apparently I haven't missed much in 9 months.

Well, for some reason, I like it; I think it's got a good melody and sounds good for a ballad. I know other of us God-fearing, gun-totin' types that like it, too.  Oh well, diffrent strokes...

take care

Actually that is Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. The title is Pictures.

Goes like:

Livin' my life in a slow hell
Different girl every night at the hotel
I aint seen the sun shine in 3 damn days
Been fuelin' up on cocaine and whisky
Wish I had a good girl to miss me
Lord I wonder if I'll ever change my ways
I put your picture away
Sat down and cried the day
I can't look at you, I'm lyin' next to her
I put your picture away, sat down and cried today
I can't look at you I'm lyin' next to her

I called you lastnight in the hotel
Everyone knows but they wont tell
But their half hearted smiles tell me
Somethin' just ain't right
I been waitin' on you for a long time
Fuelin' up on heartaches and cheap wine
I ain't heard from you in 3 damn nights
I put your picture away
I wonder where you been
I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him
I put your picture away
I wonder where you been
I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him
I saw ya yesterday with an old friend

It was the same ole same "how have you been"

Since you been gone my worlds been dark & grey

You reminded me of brighter days

I hoped you were comin' home to stay
I was head of the church

I was off to drink you away

I thought about you for a long time
Can't seem to get you off my mind
I can't nderstand why we're living life this way
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I found your picture today
I swear I'llc hange my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I just called to say, I love you come back home

Well, it could be much, much worse:

They could re-release "The night the lights went out in Georgia".

a good college station nearby (they tend to be woefully underpowered).

One station at a local Christian college used to always joke that they could (excuse the langauage) "piss farther than they could transmit."  It was a little shocking to hear that a couple of times an hour from them.

The last time I listened to that station was when I was working on a site next to the college.  That was in 1990, and they had an entire day where they interviewed one student after another to tell how much they hated the song Black Velvet.  In my opinion, that was the most overplayed song of all time.  I used to hear it on the local "mix" (played music from the 40's to current), a couple of top 40 stations, a classic rock station, and every country music station my coworkers listened to.  It was terrible.z
