I have no knowledge of the camera you are talking about, but make sure it has pretty good resolution. At least 1.3 megapixels.
Be careful, a buddy once bought the jamcam and it was a piece of shit. 5 or 6 picture capacity and they were the size of a pinprick. The jamcam 2 wasn't much better. How does the camera you talk about store the pictures? 7, (???-resistance is futile???) sorry...
Any how, I think one of the two was a Jamcam 3.0 and the other was a Polaroid. You unload it via a cable, COM port one said. I thought it was cool.... but I don' tknow mutch about digital cameras. I recall resolution was given in: (number) x (number) format, not in megapixels. Thanks. I'll look at the link when I get some time, running off to work right now....... |

If you're just posting to the web 640 x 480 is plenty big enough. You'll start pissing people off if you start publishing 1500 x 1200 1.4 Mb photos.
In addition to the larger photo size the megabit cameras offer they also offer larger memories (more pictures), better optics and sensors (clearer and sharper pictures) and more special effects (B&W, septia, solarization, time delay, external flash etc. modes). I bought a nice 1.2 Mb Kodak camera four years ago when they were $999 - the same model sells for about $350 now. I also have an el-cheapo $99 pocket camera that seldom sees use because of the poor image quality - not the size. Size doesn't matter - it's how you use it. |

I have used a JamCam 2.0 for quite a while and while it isn't the best quality - it isn't priced like it either.
I plan of purchasing a JamCam 3.0 soon and they are $60.00 at Wal-Mart If I can figure out how to post a photo I will give you an example.... [sniper] The Sniper |

This is hard to admit (Like owning a Jennings), but guess how I know about them? You're right, I just looked at [S]mine[/S] my daughters, & it IS a 3.0 - red, & black blister pack w a pic of bunch of goofy looking teenyboppers - comes with cables for USB, AND serial port... right? They're $59 at the Walmarts here too (& they had $30 rebate coupons). |

the cheap ones less than $200 dollars anyway are usually focus free and the ccd (the actual image sensor) is really the same thing as in those little eyeball web cams, heres some examples taken with my agfa $100 pretty much equall to all the other cameras in that price range and some from a sony mavica.
From my balcony with the agfa I look out the window and can see work..how sad [img]http://militanthippy.merseine.nu/image002.jpg[/img] same thing with the mavica [img]http://militanthippy.merseine.nu/mvc-004f.jpg[/img] agfa [img]http://militanthippy.merseine.nu/image003.jpg[/img] mavica sorry I think the orlites are cooler for pictures. [img]http://militanthippy.merseine.nu/mvc2002f.jpg[/img] having an actual focusing lens and a ccd thats meant for taking pictures is the biggest thing, the mavica I used not sure of the model number but it's from work and costs over a a grand and a half, there's cameras out there for $300 or so that'll take pictures just as good but don't have all the flashy features the sony does (writes to cd-r instead of messing with cables or smart cards, has lcd screen on the back, zoom lens, plugs into a regualar TV also to view the pictures) all that stuff is cool but you don't need it for regular pictures. I'm also looking at maybe buying for myself the Kodak DC215 millenium gold it's pictures are just as good as the mavicas above but it's only about $280 |

Here's a 1280 X 960 pic of my truck taken with my Fuji MX1200. The MX1200 has been discontinued, and has been replaced by the 1300. The 1300 can be had for $185. My first digital was a $100 Kodak and was a piece of crap. I took it back the same day I bought it. It didnt have removeable media and would only hold maybe 15 pictures before you had to start deleating pictures. I ended up buying an Olympus D-340R for about $300. I am sure the new ones have a different number but it should be similar to mine and about $300 in price. I have been VERY happy with my camera. I have used it to take a lot of pictures (many of which are on my web site). It is not a top notch camera but it does everything I want it to do. Here are some shots taken with it.
