A Chinese woman walks near a 'Don't Spit' campaign poster in Shanghai May 16, 2003. Spitting, backed by a common belief that frequent internal cleansing is good for your health, has a long history in China. A succession of leaders, some of them unabashed public spitters, have tried arguing that it has no place in a modern nation. But now the stigma of SARS, the flu-like virus which has already killed more than 270 people in China, looks as though it might succeed where a century of political campaigns failed. Shanghai announced that a person caught spitting would be fined $24.00. (Claro Cortes IV/Reuters)

Florida on May 16, 2003 executed Newton Carlton Slawson who was convicted of murdering a Tampa family and cutting an unborn baby from a dying mother's womb, killings he said he did not remember because someone spiked his beer with cocaine. Slawson, seen in this undated prison photo, was executed by chemical injection at the Florida State Prison in Raiford. Originally scheduled for Thursday, the execution was postponed so a psychiatrist could test Slawson's sanity. Florida Gov. Jeb Bush lifted the stay shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday. FL Dept. See, now if we just combined the captions for the Iraqi and the murderer together it would be ok:

" Florida on May 16, 2003 executed Newton Carlton Slawson by strapping explosives to his body. "

That's MUCH better!
