How many of you have a weapon within arms reach right now?

I'm at work and as such am barred from being able to defend myself, with my weapon of choice. Hell I'm not even allowed to carry a pocket knife at work. The closest weapon i have is a 6 cell maglight.

Just sitting here at my desk? Let's see what I can reach.

Walther P99, 6.5" hunting knife, ASP baton, tomahawk, stun gun, several folding knives, pepper spray, Cold Steel Safe-KeeperII (forgot about that), folding camp shovel? and various nasty looking tools including a 1,000,000 candle power spot light.

I'd have to get up to get the two ARs and the shotgun.

I actually do. There is a 5906 in the computer desk. A few months ago, when somebody was after me (long story that I am not free to tell, yet), I salted firearms all over the house. The threat has passed, and the long guns are all put up, but I left handguns stashed all over the house. I don't have ay kids, and my wife has learned to live with my (justified) paranoia, so I just decided to leave them secreted in various location. I know where they are, and they may prove handy.

"It's not considered a nessesary toll for the job." Former site supervisor and branch manager.

Back in the day, i just would grab a box cutter from one of the guys on the floor if i really need to cut something open. Now I sit in front of two computers and monitor alarms and access points, and tell other people what to do, and where to go and get bitched at for things that happen that are beyond my control.

12 folding knives, 1 double edged boot knife, OC Spray, Sig .40, Sig .22, AR. Not to mention the 4 cell mag light, the pair of 20lb hex dumbbells at my feet under the desk and 1 cell phone and 1 land line to call by brother who lives 30 secs away by foot and is 6'5" 270lbs and will be also packin a Dan Wesson .357, I know it's not much but I was considering adding some 7 barreled vulcans around the office on motion sensored trigger set ups, or possible pressure plates in the flooring.

Nothing within twenty feet of my present position. Will I be thrown out of the he-man testosterone pumping chest thumpin club for this obvious violation?

Does this make me a bad person?

I am in what the government, both local and federal, consider an important strategic business and very high terrorist target.
I cannot even bring a nail file to work. In general the rule of thumb in this area of the country, NYC - NJ, is not to allow self defense.

I've got a secret weapon.  I live in a neighborhood noted for foreclosures on 1,000 sq.ft. houses and blinged out old pontiacs.

In my home CD changer, I've got Barry Manilow followed by Saturday Night Fever in the 9 and 10 slots.  Any hiphop mofo tries to break down my door, I've got the remote in my hand to 400 watts of WMD (white man's disco).

Ditto that.  CQC-7s kick ass, so I have 2.  [:D]

I actually have my M1911 sitting next to me as well, but it is disassembled.  [:(]

Maybe I'd better go move my XM-15 closer.......

OK, lying on the couch with my laptop and have within easy reach all of my firearms. (excluding the one the wife keeps under her pillow).  When at work (I drive a semi) I keep my XD within reach at all times.

Depends on where they are in my "zone of defense"

out to 20yrds s&w 4046
      300yrds bushy 20"
      500yrds custom 25-06improved
      1000yrds 300 weatherby
beyond 1000yrds grizzly 50 (as soon as budget allows)

think that covers altitude up to 2000 feet also

Yup, I always have my USP .40, my Glock 27 or my Kel Tek P11 within reach.  Which one depends on where I am at the time.
