I can handle shorthand/slang terms like cuz, gonna, gotcha, etc. Commas and apostrophes get a pass also.

Not knowing the difference in their, there, and they're really grinds my gears.

My degree is in English LIt. and Communications and while I'm not a grammar Nazi, per se, some of the basic mistakes, which are clearly repeated by the offenders, make me scratch my head.

'They're, there and their,' 'it's and its' and 'you're and your,' are a few.

I got into law school not based on a stellar LSAT, or GPA, but because I could read and write well and I'm always catching things, but I proofread a lot, so I do catch my mistakes and I'll even go back a day later and edit something that I missed, just because...

For instance, you "Cue" the I Am Disappoint pic.

Are you saying that queue is the correct word there?

I've never seen queue in place of cue. Most folks can't even spell queue.

"graduate high school"

"anyways"

Anytime someone drops the article before a common noun:

"on holiday"

"in hospital"

"call hospice"

This and those that refuse to use punctuation. I admit I am not the best speller and thank the Gods all the time for spell check.

Those who capitalize every word of their sentence. The whole your/you're thing is so simple yet so many people get it wrong, as well as their/they're/there.

But my biggest pet peeve? People who either can't spell for shit and don't use some form of auto correct or spellcheck, or people who use text speech.
That's all I think.

Using "then" instead of "than".

"It was a much bigger fire then anyone expected"

I see that a lot here. Not sure why.

Some posts are so deficient in capitalization, proper punctuation, subject with verbs and vis versa, and then full of run on sentences and incomplete sentences that I wonder during just which grade did they dropout.  One of these days when I have the time to spend in GD, I'm going to go grammar and spelling police and bust everyone I can.

Well, I went to law school in Miami and grammar was so poor for my class that we all had to take a remedial English/grammar class...for...like...a semester.

Think about that for a second.

Now, to be fair, English is a secondary language for many here in Miami, but these people all graduated from US schools, or most of the 104 people in my class, did.

St. Thomas University.  I was in the second class, so they were bustin' a nut to gain accreditation, so I couldn't necessarily blame the faculty, but beat me with a stick.

It's hard enough without being forced to take a class you're fully capable in.
