My vehicle recently had a leaking power steering hose and I have oil spots on my driveway that's only a year old and looks like trash.

The best method I have seen so far is to use brake cleaner.

Spread powdered laundry soap and tamp it down.  The soap will absorb it.

This.  A cheap wire brush.

It may take a couple tries depending on the depth the oil penetrated.

Brake clean

Then get a gravel driveway and you won't even need an oil catch pan for oil changes anymore

Leave it on there for a few days. I use it when the UPS leaks oil in my drive way. Works very well.

I'm in the kitty litter/broom club.

But you could also just spill oil over the rest of the driveway so it matches.

That looks like it might be useful for other applications, too. Weeds, starting burn pits, disciplining tresspassers.

Exactly, 100% soap on spill scrub, let it sit, add water, scrub more hose off - stain is gone.

Grind that kitty litter in until it's a fine powder that fills all of the concrete pores.  Let it sit a few days and then sweep it off.

Buy all of the pool salt you can, large pile on the oil. Wet it slightly.

Poof, no more oil.

But, no more pristine driveway.

I had my oil catch pan over flow a few years ago, and put probably a gallon of 15W40 out of my diesel pick up onto the driveway.  Those with diesels know the oil is very black and stains that much worse than other motor oil.

I did a rigorous routine of kitty litter to absorb as much as I could immediately, followed by dawn dish soap and a scrub brush, followed by the Purple Power Concrete cleaner.   I did that for probably a week straight and finally got it to where it didn't look like the birthmark on Gorbachev's forehead.

Pour gasoline on the spot.  No shit it works.  Not right in front of your eyes but a few days later it will be gone.  My ex father in law used to leave oil spots in my DW all the time.  This was how I made them go away.

This, but scrub some parts washer fluid on it, before soaking up with kitty litter.

Let it dry completely, and sweep it up.

I may try this. The dawn soap and scrub brush got the oil off. But not the Stain.

Kitty litter was a waste of time.

The biggest issue is the concrete is only a year old and still very white and clean.

I use a solvent like paint thinner to liquefy the stain then use oil absorbent to lift it out.  Leave the absorbent on the stain for a couple of days and sweep it around with a broom so fresh absorbent can suck up the oil. It really works quite well.

Wd-40 or charcoal starter.  Saturate stain, sit 10 min. Wipe off with a rag.

Put a thick blob of straight dish soap on the stains and walk away.  Need to have a few dry days in a row.  The eventual rain will wash it away if you're as lazy as I am.  Worked on a new driveway.

This. Brake clean is great for removing oil stains. Also you can try red devil driveway and garage powder cleaner. They sell it at menards here for $1.99 paint. Works Fucking great.....we use it at the dealership I work at.
