Started a few hours ago, enormous fire that keeps spreading in Gilbert, right outside of Phoenix.

Wasn't on duty, but got a look at it from the top of a parking garage several miles southeast of the fire. It was simply incredible! The fire occurred next to a complex that is home to the local government buildings including the main police station. Unreal.

Unfinished structures like that go up crazy fast. Basically a large scale version of the wooden UL test crib.

Damn! The wife and I were at a Taste of Tempe food festival at Tempe Diablo Stadium yesterday afternoon and I saw the gigantic smoke plume off to the east. Didn't see the news or open the laptop at all yesterday so I knew nothing about this!!
We've always got a pallet factory or chemical yard going up in flames it seems. |
