This was my step brothers dads rifle.  I am fairly certain that its a 1982 Remington 700 BDL Custom. Its chambered in 30-06.  As you can see its in excellent condition.   Did I ID the rifle correctly?  What should he price this at?  His dad passed and this is the only rifle that was not stolen by shady family.  I want to buy it, which will keep it in the family, but have no idea what it costs.  It hashas been sitting in a hard case in a closet for nearly 20 years.

That sounds reasonable.  This has the swing out magazine.  I can convert it to take mags right?

I was thinking 450, but 500 is fair. assuming the inside is as clean as the outside seems to be.

Yeah, that's possible. There are some out there that fit the BDL inlet.

Some gunsmithing required.

Nice. Any suggestions for a stock?

Are you keeping the factory barrel?

That DBM should work with that stock, and there's nothing wrong with it, per se. I'm personally not a fan of pressed checkering...

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.

>@OP, What do you intend to use this rifle for?
Hunting?
Would be good for that, I'd leave it 'as is', shoot it, see how it does.

Hunting and I would like to get into longrange shooting.

I do like how it is set up. Could use a better scope and rings.

$500 is about what I paid for a similar adl. Personally I'd leave it as is and enjoy.

Give or take $50, this is the correct answer.

Two years ago, the local Walmart was blowing out BDL's for about $540. I couldn't bring myself to buy one.

I have that rifles twin, although not in as good of shape as yours. Killed many a deer and hog with it. Probably made around the same time too.

As stated, $450 or so.

Toss the scope but don't go fooling around with the stock and such until you see how it shoots.

Pressed checkering and a Bushnell scope. $400. $350 if you make me take the scope.
