My grandfather, a retired dairy farmer, kept cookies in a large metal box in a spare bedroom. I guess he only bought cookies for the grandkids, and since he never ate them he didn't want mice getting into them. I mean this big tin box could fit a small child in there.
Oh and he had big paintings of the Virgin Mary and Jesus with the Sacred Heart, you know where Christ is depicted as having a heart sort of floating in front of Him? My sister said the eyes looked like they followed you around the room, rotten sister that she was. I used to go with mom to visit him and I'd lay in the spare bedroom under that big Jesus painting with the scary eyes and floating heart when I was little. I'd glance up at the eyes, then go back to reading Batman, then quickly glance up at the eyes again to see if they moved.
