The convention was in Chicago, and we know how that works...

I try to keep psychological antidotes to my thoughts to keep myself in check when overloaded with information or dealing with unknowns. In politics, I say that we have had worse presidents than Obama and have been much closer to losing the republic in the past than we are today. The shit that happened in the aftermath of the civil war, FDR's policies and stacking/diluting the supreme court; I've heard the NFA included handguns as well, but the NRA got that removed from it, but SBRs stayed on the list as an artifact (they made them illegal to keep people from cutting down rifles to prevent the handgun tax).

So, how fucked was the 1860 election?
