It's like someone explained the book to the screen writer, while he was really high and he wrote the screenplay from memory the next day.

Other than the title, they really don't have anything in common. There is definitely no humor in the book.

On a related note, how the hell is it that The Long Walk never got made into a movie. It would've been perfect for those low budget, straight to USA, King adaptations from the 90s.
