My yard isnt too big and I like the other stuff that grow besides the grass.

The buttercups are "cute" as my wife says.

Why do people love JUST grass..... BORING and a waste of time. The marsh and creek behind the house are the reason we picked this house.

I agree.
Plain grass is boring.
Now get a big water pit, put an alligator in there, and you can have some fun.

I'm a landscaper by trade. I said that so you'd know where I'm coming from.

I'd kill every last one of those buttercups and plant more grass. Then I'd fertilize it monthly and irrigate it daily till it was so thick and lush you could sleep on it.

I love big fileds of thick green grass, NO WEEDS.

cut a 5' deep flower bed along the back of the house and plant some flowers there.  Do not plant bushes in that they can be used by criminals to hide behind.  Buy perrennial flowers and lay a good thick layer of mulch down to keep the weeds out.  Put a couple of dogwood or cherry trees in the back yard and enjoy the spring time.  As to the rest of the yard, do what BVM says.

I hate anything I have to mow or trim, if it's usually green.
