Got an itch for a new knife. Currently eyeballing a ZT #0808. Give me some other ideas GD!

I've carried a bunch of knives over the years, the last being a Kershaw. I thought it was nice until my dad gave me a Benchmade. I won't clip an inferior blade to my pocket anymore.

Which Kershaw and which Benchmade? Kershaws run from Chinese made $30 Walmart specials to USA made $200 blades.

Just got me a ZT 0452CF.

4.1" blade in a slim and light package.

ETA: Also got a ZT 0909 recently.

3.6" blade and it is built like a tank!.

Eh... looking at EDC knives... I almost pulled the trigger on a couple recently... but found that they don't have features I want.

I want:
assisted or automatic opening. Autos are legal to carry, so why the fuck not?
Non-serrated blade
side lock (for assisted opening), I fucking HATE liner lock.

I fucking love the Benchmade 940 Osborne knife... but you get it in green or pay $100 more for carbon fiber. I'm tempted to get one and have a friend of a friend who does custom handguns ceracoat it in grey or something.

The Kershaw was a Ken Onion Leek. Nice knife. Not cheap Chinese shit, but nowhere near the quality of the Benchmade. I forget which model my Benchmade is, but all of their knives are top notch. I think the one I'm carrying goes for about $175.

Have you looked at the Adams Auto?

I have one and it is pretty sweet.

Does take up a fair bit of pocket real estate though.

Im currently carrying a Godson from Protech. I like it but I have sliced myself twice by accidentally hitting the button while using it, and having it fold in on my hand/fingers. Im sure there are better designs but it has left me a little leery of autos. That BM does look nice though.

Did that open up in your pocket?

My Adamas auto does have a lock on it, and I tend to use it more often than not, even though it does slow you down in deploying the blade.

I loaned it to my brother once and it opened in his pocket. Sliced him up real good. Happened while he was bar hoping so that may have played a factor.

As to my cuts, they were while I was actually using the knife. More specifically, I would holding the knife "upside down" where the button was not on the side my thumb was on. My middle or ring finger ended up hitting the button, causing it to fold in on my hand.

Also reached out to the guy who made this, seeing if I can get a custom sheath made. Might be able to pull of EDC with it.

It is a sweet looking blade.

I want to say that I saw a model with a manual safety on it too. Of course, it wouldn't have helped in your case though.

Made by Ken Brock.

Here's his web site. http://www.brockblades.net/

This site carries his new stuff in stock. http://www.mattdtactical.com/BROCK-BLADES_c_7.html

Bought mine second hand.

Specs: 5.25" blade length

         9.325" overall length

         8.5oz in weight

Blade steel is more than likely CPM154, since that's what he usually works with.

Going to contact him about my blade, since it doesn't look like any of the ones he normally makes.

Ease of access, I guess. With tip up, the knife is basically sitting exactly how it needs to be to open. Its kind of like pocket carry in the sense you can be ready to deploy while still keeping it concealed.

I was looking at Arizona Custom Knives earlier. Nice knives, but maybe a touch more than I am willing to shell out. <$500 I can live with. $1k+ is a bit too much as I don't baby a EDC. I have huge scratches on my Godson from using it as a bottle opener.

ETA:

Case in point.

Is very similar to the ZT at 4x the price.

I'm going to go in a different direction than alot of the suggestions so far.

Spyderco Dragonfly.  All the knife you'll need in an EDC role and none of the knife you don't need.

Assuming your perception of EDC doesn't involve a potential knife fight.

EDC vs Safe Queen, man. I won't shed too many tears beating up even a higher priced knife. At a grand or more that bastard will forever camp in the safe. Sub $500 should have a good variety without being your run of the mill blade that I could still stand to beat the shit out of.

A microtech otf of some flavor has been my edc for about 5 years. They are just fun (and practical for the tasks most people actually use an edc for. They won't replace a busse).

I like spydercos and Emerson a lot too on the non automatic side of things.

My GF gave me a PM II with S110V and the cobalt blue scales for Valentine's Day and it's a pretty nice looking knife.  I carry a SAK SwissChamp everyday, so the PM II sits, but it's a cool knife with a nice 3rd Gen. super clean steel.
