Until I got my new computer (running XP) I NEVER got any popup ads.  Now the damn things are driving me NUTS!

Who has a good popup killer?

Man, I know that feeling.  I'm currently using the free downloadable version of Popup Stopper from www.panicware.com.  Seems to work fine for a free product.

Goto www.download.com

"stop the pop" works well.

At home, my Notron Firewall 2003 works miracles also...

Opera 7.10.

Mozilla will also give you the ability to block that crap but it has a much larger footprint than Opera.

I only use IE for those e-commerce and financial sites that are written to only work properly with Internet Exploder.

I’d like the beat the crap out of web site designers that refuse to write agnostic code (or the idiot PHB that insists that it be done that way).

What pop-ups? My current favorite browser is Ommniweb on Mac OS X. There's a handy Javascript option to only allow the creation of Javascript windows in response to a link being clicked. I've never seen a popup on it, but the ARFCOM icon legend pages all work.

Oddly enough, when I use my Windows XP computer to surf the web with internet exploder, I get popups even before I go to websites. That's just one reason why I don't use that computer much.

I use a free utility from PC Magazine called Cookie Cop 2. It blocks pop-ups and cookies.

I must be spoiled because I do not get any.  I don't use my email to sign up for anything (use a yahoo account).  I do run adaware which helps and I do have Norton Internet security which helps.  There is also a trick where you can download a host blacklist file and put it into your host file and it will block all most ads and banners.

I went to PanicWare and installed Popup Stopper.  It's killed three popups already.

Thanks, y'all.

Using Opera 7.1 exclusively. The internet has never been faster, and the popup have never been fewer.

Opera rocks compared to IE.
