Gunman, Two Victims Dead in Florida

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Reuters) - A gunman shot four people, two of them fatally, at a high-rise
condominium building in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Hollywood and was himself killed Friday.

Police confirmed the gunman was dead. They initially said he had survived a shootout with
police but later added they did not know whether he died in the exchange of fire or committed suicide.

Police did not have a motive and did not know whether the gunman knew any of the victims, one of whom was a
pregnant woman.

The gunman opened fire in the apartment parking lot near a busy traffic circle, fatally shooting a woman, police
said.

He then ran into the building, storming into the lobby and shooting three more people holding police at by for more
than 45 minutes.

With paramedics unable to enter the area, police drove a squad car to the lobby entrance, loaded one of the
injured atop the car and drove her to a hospital.

The gunman was later found dead in the lobby of the building, where dozens of residents had bolted themselves
inside their apartments during the siege.

  The two surviving victims were hospitalized in critical condition.

Lt. Tony Rode said the gunman was in his 30s and clad all in black.

Here we go again...what the hell is wrong with people anyway?  The cop(s) who rammed into the lobby to get the injured person out should get a medal for that.

Too bad that cop didn't work for the Littleton, CO police department a couple years back.

Imbroglio....there is a shooting just about every nite on the east side of buffalo...a 21 yr old was fatally shot last nite...can`t find shooter or the brother.....possibly one and the same.....in approx 99% of cases where weapon is recovered....it is a "non legal" handgun.....{here we go again)........[heavy]

No kidding. It's nice to hear of L.E.O.'s who understand the phrase "To protect and serve". I doubt if the cop involved was even S.W.A.T., probably just a patrolman. Nice job.

The news flash out here on the west coast said it was a "sniper" who killed a pregnant woman and wounded several others with a handgun. No details except that it was a handgun.

Well I think notable shootings are when there are multiple victims within the same incident and that the shooter does not know or knows little of them personally.

You`re right....what i`m saying is that this stuff goes on all the time, and what the media morons like is to "glorify" this kind of incident to push the politico`s cause, where if someone in close vicinity was legal carry, the outcome may have been completely different....rather than point to the fact that the nutcase shootings support the need/right of citizens to be armed,the morons end up making "victims" of the wackos!!!!!
