Yes, I know there is a sub for knives but I see cool shit posted here in GD by people who aren't in the sub then forget what the title of the thread was and then get bored trying to search through every random knife related thread in GD.

This is what I usually carry for long bike rides:

Serrations are a real PITA to sharpen and on a personal defense knife dont do as much as one would think.

They look mean as hell though.

Oh, serrated blades will absolutely cut you. But in a self defense knife I dont see how they cut substantially better than a standard knife blade (on flesh), that justifies the increased effort required for sharpening.

Unless you live a substantially more "interesting" life than I do, I imagine a self defense knife isn't going to be used enough to worry about sharpening.  If it does get used, my guess is that it's going to stay with the police for a while anyway.

If I was going to get a dedicated SD knife, I'd probably lean towards serrated so the blade has more "bite" in clothing.

I agree that skin/meat probably doesn't matter much for serrated or not.

You can't get both the background and the foreground in focus without a high f-stop, which requires a lot of light or a long exposure and a tripod (or use a timer and set it down). You can fairly easily get the phone to focus on the knife (just tap the screen where it is) but then the background will be blurry instead without more depth of field.

How often are you slashing people that you worry about sharpening a Civilian or Matriarch? It's not like it's a useful EDC knife that you'd cut a lot of other stuff with.

Well, maybe packing tape with the tip, which is easy to sharpen. Would be a good rope knife, too, I guess, but I don't find myself cutting a lot of rope. Wait, are you a serial kidnapper? Tying people up all the time, and dulling your knife on all that rope?

Squirrel feel out of the tree, stood up, chattered and waved its tail then took off for the house. We saw blood on him but he had zero fucks to give

My folks used to have a place in the Black Hills - the pine squirrels would destroy the structures so we'd always pop 'em when we saw them. I'd use a 20 gauge or .22 usually, but did use a .17 HMR a few times. That thing would absolutely rip them apart. Messy and expensive to shoot compared to the .22 so didn't really use it much.
