Ok, I just upgraded my CPU and I can now run some good games. I am looking for a good first person shooter. Any thoughts?

Vietcong is very good, realism is good, try the demo. Postal 2 is good for just pure violence, my copy should be in my mail today.

It's big but it's free and is very fun.
I also like Battlefield 1942, you can be any part of the infantry as well as drive tanks, ships, and planes. Not very realistic but damn fun.

Ghost Recon is the ultimate gaming experience, IMO. It has an incredible multiplayer interface. Several of my friends and I get together about 3 times a week and play online.

Be careful on that game....I started playing AA the day after it came out....got really good at it.....and then got banned because some punk kid accused me of cheating cuz I was kicking his ass. I tried talking to the devs, emailed support, everything, and they wouldn't let me back on....so......F@$K YOU DEVS AT AMERICAS ARMY!!!!

Battlefield 1942. Only game I know of where you can start in an F-16...jump out, land on a m1a1, drive that around then steal and enemy hind attack chopper. You have to get the desert combat mod for that though...you can download the mod for free.

Another vote for Postal 2, good game, lots of funny.

The only half-life mod I recommend is Day of Defeat, but thats because I dont like the others like counterstrike.

If you want a decent graphic, well developed, cheap ($20 at the Wally World), and a game you actually have to try to aim and shoot people....
go with Operation Flashpoint.

For unadultered high graphic asswhippin', yeah...go with B.1942

Unreal Tournament, Unreal II, Quake III Team Arena, the soon-to-be-released Doom III (which looks like it will scare the hell out of you), and if you're into flight simulators and want to shoot somebody down, get Falcon 4.0 off of ebay. (It's not available in stores anymore but the online support community for this sim keeps it alive, vigorous, and up to date.)

I just got my 2.53ghz 1gig of ram and a raedon pro card after being out of gaming for a while.

Right now I'm playing Delta Force Black Hawk Down and Medal of Honor. BHD is a pretty good game, not terribly realistic but not bad. Just got to the "Irene" part. I like the Delta Force series because it makes online gaming really easy. Some cheaters and whiners but not so bad if you don't play the Novaworld games.

Medal of Honor is pretty good but would be better if you didn't have to hit everybody with three shots from the garand to kill them. It's a .30-06 for cripes sake. Just played the first mission though. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

Raven Shield is OK but just more of the same with better graphics. Great sound though.

An oldie but a goodie, the "Day of Defeat" mod for Half-life. Ravenshield is awesome, the Unreal engine they use really makes it superior to the earlier games, but I need to upgrade my computer now.

Ghost Recon! Great game, more realistic than most other FPS. Lots of mods at theplatoon.com

SWAT CQB Tactical Game of the Year (TGOY)! Also very realistic and lots of mods at 10-david.com

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down...runs good on 1200mhz with gf4ti4200
Ghost recon is cool, as well as raven shield.
Day of defeat mod for half life rules.

that game is set in WW2 therefore you would have to start in a P-51 and land on a Sherman.

I play a lot of Americas army and I think its a good game... free too.
And to all you naysayers on broadband I play it on my 56k modem!
Sometimes I get a real slow server that is all most imposible to play but most times it works great tho the initial 48hr load time sucked.

Yeah as was stated desert combat mod converts everything to new weapons. M1A1 and T-72 tanks, Humvees with TOW, Bradleys, M-16s, AK's. F-16s, AC-130 gunship, scud launcher, etc. The coolest new weapon is the mortor. All in all the best mod out since Counter-strike IMHO.
