Long range shooting is an incredibly fun sport.  I'd love to use a .50 cal.

Pre-ban AR types were allowed to stay with owners before the ban took place.  I am not sure if .50 cal legislation will grandfather existin owners or not.

I'd hate to see anyone miss a chance to get in on owning one. BUT I'd hate to see someone spend money to get a .50 cal and have it become worthless or worth less because the rifle becomes un-ownable or the ammo become un-ownable.

Anyone watching this closely or with a good crystal ball please tell me the reason why a purchase now would be a safe bet or not?

As far as I can tell .50's will come under the same rules as "Assault Weapons".  Existing ones will have to be registered, you'll need a permit to possess and purchase .50BMG rounds.  No more rifle purchases or transfers allowed.  If you sell one it will have go out of state.  No leaving them in your will to anyone.  You die it will have to be turned into the state or sold out-of-state.

I've thought about it long and hard.  The bastards already did a bait and switch on registration and then changing the rules to confiscate AW's.  I'd say with the bullshit surrounding this law they might try it again.  You really want to get a letter from Bill Lockyer telling you have 60 days to dispose of your 2-10,000 dollar rifle or face felony charges?

This is the final straw for me.  I've been dragging my feet for the past 6 months on bailing this socialist hell-hole.  This insanity made the choice for me.  I'm getting out this year.  I'm tired of seeing my taxes go to this inept "workers paradise".  I’m tired of seeing my rights as a law-abiding citizen of the United States being eroded on a daily basis.  The lunatics really are running this asylum and this inmate is going over the wall.

After reading the report of what happened at the committee that passed AB-50 I now know government is irretrievably broken in this state and the majority isn't really interested in fixing it.  They are too busy making sure they get their handouts and keeping their pet social programs funded.  Time to let California implode as a warning to the rest of the country what happens when you keep voting criminals and morons into positions of power over you.

You interested in putting together another group buy to get in under the CA ban?

For those who want to read the bill itself, rather than speculating on how bad it is (IMHO, it's actually worse than most folks believe, particularly regarding ammo).

Though I don't own a .50, and don't plan on owning one anytime in the future (it's about money..I don't have any), I still detest the oh-so-convenient ever-changing, "living" definition of "assault weapon" that is changed every time something new and scary comes to the attention of these fuck-muppets.

And I dont' wanna have to register the live .50 BMG fucking conversation piece on my desk.
