I REALLY want a DSA FAL.  I know I should scrape together enough for one of the their sweet STG-58s and keep the AR, but I just can't justify it right now.

So, if I sell the AR and the 25 or so mags I have lying around, I could get a SA-58 and twice as many mags to go with it as the FAL mags are about $10 a piece.

But, my web gear is for AR mags, so I would have to sell the vest and get another one, AND, I have about 1500 rounds of .223 and another 2500 AR stripper clips and 250 guides.

It's all of the accessories that I've accumulated over the years for the AR that really makes me think I should just scrape enough cash together and get the FAL in addition to keeping the AR.

Damn, I need to hit the lotto.

If it was a post ban i'd say go for it, but being a preban i'd still hold onto it for now.  I've gotten the DSA crave also but cant even come close to affording it, especially since I dont even have all the things I want for my ar just yet (only have 5 30 rounders [:(])

Keep the AR because you'll just end up buying another one later anyway.  Keep saving for the DSA or buy a kit (FAC has G1s for $99) and build your own for about $500 or less.  Better to have a weapon in as many calibers as possible.  You never know.

Do NOT get rid of the pre-ban!  You'll regret it for years.  Ask me how I know.

What he said.

TS

I've sold about six preban AR's and regret selling any and everyone that I sold.

Never, never sell a gun unless you are sure that you will never regret it.

I've sold a few over the years and have regretted only a couple of them - but that's due to a great deal of consideration beforehand.

I stash my AR's in the safe (and sometimes I forget about them.)  The "forgetting" part comes in real handy when cash is tight.  Seems the guns are always still there when the dust settles.

Sell the preban while you can still get some cash for it. 14 Sept 2004 it gets a new name:

USED OLD AR...

Don't sell your preban.  I've got a G1 kit from DSA that is excellent.  DSA FALs are awesome, though.

My plan is to buy one the day the Ban disappears!  [party]

It keeps me motivated...

That's pretty much where I'm at right now.  Unless you are funding a serious upgrade, I never like to sell guns.

But, with the lure of the high prices on pre-bans (that MAY go away pretty soon) I was tempted to make a killing on the AR and then get another one next year.

But, I only paid about $800 for my AR anyway, so if the prices go down next year, I won't really lose much if anything.

I guess I could be greedy and sell it, but I don't want to really.

Thanks guys, I won't sell it.  I'd rather even sell a handgun to help with the FAL purchase than sell a semi-auto rifle.

Later.
