North Korea has 100 N-weapons aimed at US, propagandist claims
Sun May 4, 1:24 AM ET

SYDNEY (AFP) - North Korea (news - web sites) has at least 100 nuclear missiles aimed at the United States and will use them if new economic sanctions are imposed against it, a propagandist for the Stalinist state claimed.

Kim Myong Chol, who styles himself executive director of the Centre for Korea-American Peace, told Australia's Channel Nine network Sunday: "It's quite obvious North Korea may have minimum 100 nuclear warheads, maximum 300.

"They all lock onto American cities."

Kim, who rejoices in the title "unofficial spokesman for North Korea", was speaking in an interview recorded overseas, although it was unclear where.

He claimed the nuclear technology used to produce the missiles had been tested in Pakistan and the weapons had been made before Pyongyang's non-proliferation agreement with the adminstration of former US president Bill Clinton (news - web sites) in 1994. They did not therefore breach international agreements, he maintained.

Told that Pakistan had denied the claim it was implicated -- which he has made previously -- he said: "Of course they must deny that."

Kim, who said he was flattered that the Western media labelled him unofficial spokesman for the Pyongyang regime, was asked if North Korea intended to use the weapons if the United States did not give in to its diplomatic and economic deamands.

"If the US attacks North Korea, North Korea will definitely use those nuclear weapons against the US mainland," he replied.

Would it also use them if an economic embargo was imposed?

"Yes, definitely," he said. "North Korea will use those nuclear weapons against the US mainland if America imposes additional economic sanctions on North Korea."

He also rejected a charge by Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer last week that an official of North Korea's ruling political party was aboard a North Korean ship accused of smuggling heroin to Australia.

The freighter, Pong Su, was boarded and seized by Australian special forces troops on April 20 after a chase that began when it allegedly unloaded the drugs off southeastern Australia five days earlier.

Some 26 North Korean crew remain in custody charged with helping to import 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of pure heroin into Australia.

"I'm afraid the Australian Foreign Minister is entirely wrong," Kim said.

Gee, 100 nukes huh?

Guess we should pull back to just one Boomer parked off their coast to keep the fight fair. [rolleyes]

If there was ever a country that deserved a pre-emptive strike, N. Korea would be it.

Maybe because its [BS2] even if they do have the nukes.....we will just have to kick there ass!

Try not to compare N.Korea with Irac.  In the early 80's a Marine LT went into the DMZ to remove a tree that was blocking his view and never returned. The LT was hacked up with his own axe.

The Korean Marines are some of the most highly trained warriors in that part of the world and they stood by and let it happen.  Now I wasnt there but only a few ?'s could come of this.  Im not saying we couldnt whip it on but after  reading alot of books and intel about NK I have to say "stand by"  As far as a 100 nukes-they are lying.

Not to worry
a few months ago it was 40
then a month later it was 60 then 80 and now 100?
I think I know where Baghdad Bob is now doing the news.......
They also claim to be starving to death..
Yet they have nuke plants to generate electricity to who? nobody there even has flush toilets or lightbulbs...
I think their disinfo agents are leaking stories to their "un-named sources" i n Japan again..
they are pushing for more USA aid and UN aid
I think they would love to go to war with us
AND LOSE...everybody we beat we eventually rebuild...and usually at the expense of our own country..

Well, let's see.  One Ohio class SSBN carries 24 Tridents with 5 warheads per.  Thats 120 nukes, probably in the 300 kiloton yield range each.  I doubt there's enough stuff in North Korea to make use of that much firepower.

There's only one thing their million-man army is good for, and that's invading South Korea.  I say let em have it.  Then park 2 Ohio class SSBNs off the peninsula and nuke the whole thing.

Jeez, I'm in a fiesty mood today.

This is incorrect.  It was a US Army Officer.  It also was a very close thing, and almost led to large-scale war.  President Ford put a significant number of B52s on station, as well as other strategic forces.  Later, a detail went in and chopped down the tree.

We could shatter the NKPA, but the first few weeks would be very messy.  I used to do a lot of planning for Korea operations not that long ago.  My daughter is there today, and I keep close tabs on what's happening there.

The worst part is the amount of tube artillery they possess, and how many rounds could go down range with essentially no indication or warning, followed up with massive SOF insertion behind the FEBA.   About 70% of the NKPA is within 30 miles of the DMZ.

It would be ugly, but the NKPA would be shooting its load, and couldn't regenerate losses of men or material.  They are incapable of taking the entire peninsula, but there is an opinion out there that they would try to lay seige to Seoul and bargain for terms.

I don't think pigs and cows can fly and I don't think North Korea is gonna hurt us. I hope they don't hurt California, either, even though they don't seen to like the rest of the country very much. It must bother that dictator that we keep talking about Syria instead of him.

Yes, it's true. N. Korea does in fact have 100 Nukes pointed at the U.S.. This information was confirmed by the monkey that just flew out of my ass.

Sometimes I wish a 'Unnamed Defense Department Official' would issue a response in kind to this idiot... In this case, something like informing him that as of now, the US has 500 MIRV ICBMs pointed at N Korea.

Don't want nothin...

Don't start nothin...

Also, it's interesting to note how countries expect their enemies to fight like they do...

North Korea expects to be able to fight a land war, complete with siege tactics and massed artillery bombardment... They have no significant air power, so they ignore this in their planning...

The artillery is a major problem, since even if we get them on shell-tracking-radar, and start bombing the crap out of them, it will still take a while to kill all the arty, and they'll do plenty of damage. SK should have moved the capital south after the war...

A siege of Seoul, IMHO, would be as dumb as the Republican Guard moving out of Baghdad to counter-attack US forces. Except that a siege force is by nature stationary, which makes it WORSE than the Iraq maneuver. The result would be the same, though... USAF/USN would just roll in and break the siege from the air...

That aside, besides artillery the other major problem is 'WWCD' (What Will China Do). Remember the last war? Good. We had better have something available to stop that from happening again.

The NK army is well trained, but they're 1/3 the size of the Iraqi force we beat back in 1991. Their AF would be better served in an aviation museum than on active duty, and their Navy consists of frigate-size and smaller ships...

It would be worse than Iraq, but it's doable... And the far-east is far more stable than the mid-east. No Arabs to offend when we're bombing a secular communist country, and NK has no real friends (Besides the 'Axis of Weasels' (who for all their faults, are very loyal and protective wrt their customers). Like Iraq, NK is also on the client list. The difference is that NK can't afford the 'good stuff' that Saddam could. ).

We do.  It's called "Most Favored Nation Trade Status".
The Chinese aren't stupid.  They're not going to risk losing the largest trading partner they have at this point in time.  And I believe they have already told the N. Koreans to quit with the blustering.

No, it's more like WWHD! What Would Hollywood Do? We need to be worried about Hollywood's opinion. We don't need Sean Penn making a trip to NK and coming back telling us what nice people they are and how we need to leave them alone...We need to send Scott Ritter over there so he can start collecting Treason Pay from them now since his cash cow in Iraq has been BBQ'd...Or we could just send him kiddie porn to keep him quiet...

No wait! Let's send Jessie Jackson...He's our 2nd in command official negotiator..(Just below Jimmy Carter)...We need to be concerned about public opinion..Whoopie Goldberg and Alec Baldwin might move out of this country. We need them here for their entertaining movies...

I say we boycott kim chee...It'll be a hardship, but it's for the children of North Korea...

I read the article tonight on drudge and thats exactly what I was thinking.  Wouldn't this be a prime example of a preemptive strike?
