Did you participate in any organised sports in high school and beyond?

I played hockey, raced motorcycles, and played a little bit of softball.  There were others before high school and a bunch of others not organised.

The USA hockey thread made me wonder.

Poll incoming.

In before the "sports are stupid and just prove pack theory/hive mentality" people.

Edit:

Basketball and football when younger, then softball until my body gave.

Nope. Too short for basketball. Didn't start really enjoying the sport of football until about my senior year so too late for that.

Baseball and football in HS.

I was a good enough catcher to be scouted by the Astros and Reds.

Then I started driving and drinking and chasing pussy. So much for that.

Softball, golf and weak-ass basketball since then.

Soccer in elementary school, then basketball. I preferred playground ball. High school gym teacher was the varsity coach, he asked me every year to play for the school team but I wasn't interested. Looking back I probably could've gone to a small college on it if my attitude wasn't so shitty.

Organized car and motorcycle sports in poll? lol. You obviously did nothing in HS. Good for you, good for you.

Varsity tennis.

My senior year I got out at 12:30, ate lunch, practiced until official Team practice started at 4. Played there until 6, ate dinner and practiced with friends until the court lights went out at 10.

I was much skinnier then.

Laughed my ass off at the title. Most of my sports was before high school. But I raced motocross throughout high school as well. Basically my whole life.

Before HS, football, basketball, soccer. I was super active as a kid

Hockey almost none-stop since the beginning of my Sr. year of high school. A lot of us got together a year or so after once we all graduated and started a team that lasted nearly 9 years.

when my football coach told me that i was going to have to run track, i was furious.  running to catch a ball or go hit someone is great, but what kind of stupid sport involves running for no reason?  it's like getting cold and wet just for fun.

yeah, then i started running the greatest event in track--the 400M.  can't rightly describe the fun of it in a way that someone would appreciate.  it's completely internal.  yeah, you're competing against the other guys, but it's really you against yourself, on a glorious spring day.  you know it's going to hurt, but it's a good hurt.  after a bunch of buildup, the gun goes off, and it's just you.  no teamwork, no coaching, no one else to worry about or blame, no ambiguity.  just making (or letting) your body go all-out, as hard as you can possibly go.  it's primal and pure.

i came to love it.

Baseball was the only organized sport I played in high school. I played varsity my freshman and sophomore year but dropped it once I got a job and found I liked girls and cars better than baseball. I played basketball in junior high but didn't keep playing in high school.
