Okay, when my wife and I moved into our house, we didn't get the backyard done. A sprinkler system was installed, but no sod or anything. Our intent was to put some additional concrete in for a patio and walkway, dog run, etc. Then along came the telecom bubble. With it popped the backyard lawn plans, at least at the time.

Now plans are back on the table to put in sod at least, but there are all kinds of weeds and crap growing back there that I mow from time to time, but look like hell.

My question is this: How do I kill all the crap growing in my backyard now, but not leave a toxic residue that will destroy the sod I'll be laying in on top of it? Thanks.
