So I went to buy a Glock 43 and left thinking what the fuck is that abomination.  It's almost the same physically (excluding the thickness) as a Glock 26.   Not sure what role this gun even fills and I'm a Glock fan, leaning towards a Glock 42 at this point, bash away.

Send it to me for disposal. You never know when it's going to blow up.

You don't understand the 43, but now you plan on getting a 42. Hmm, ok?

I have one and just stick it in my pocket whenever I don't feel like carrying the G17, G19, or my Ed Brown Special Forces.

I went in to get a 43 after a year of waiting. Left with a 26. I'm right there with ya... I'm not sure what those two precious milometers of thickness saved anyone.

It's a good pocket gun.

Send it to me if you don't want it.

I too was excited about the 43 until I compared it to the 26 side-by-side.  I bought the 26 instead.   10+1 with a 17 round reload just makes made more sense to me, especially considering the minimal increase in width. Besides, it goes perfect as a companion for my 19.

The 42 did feel considerably smaller than the 43 in the hand for some reason, even though the dimensions don't reflect it.

I can pocket carry a 43, but not a 26. The extra height of the Shield means it's out as well.

Yep. Glock waited too long on getting in the single stack game. I also like my Trayvon Special PF-9 sometimes.

Insignificant differences on paper are often quite significant in the hand and when it comes time to conceal the weapon in EDC.

This. I don't even notice the 42 in my pocket anymore. If I try to carry the 43 it's like I have fleas on my balls all day. Idk.

Having bought both a Shield and G43...both are on an even playing field IMHO. The G43 shoots like a much larger pistol but carries much better than the G19. It may not carry much better than a G26 but the G43 feels better in the hand. Buy what feels good in the hand, and most importantly, what you shoot well. I personally don't feel under gunned with 6 rnds of 9mm and 6 more in a reload. Each to their own.

Good for you.  I prefer the G43 and let the Shield go.

And I wanted to buy a 43.

I've shot the G43 and the Shield.  I bought neither.  I bought a Ruger LC9s Pro.  Conceals better than both the G43 and the Shield.  Perceived recoil seems a little less.  The trigger is much better than either the Glock of the S&W.  Cost less than the other two.  I've got 1200+ rounds through it with no issues at all. Yeah I know it's a Ruger, and it's not Tier 1 but, meh, who cares.

Im sitting here comparing 9mms and Im having a hard time finding anything wrong about my G43. Granted I dont own a Shield and while the SIG 938 intrigues me its just not in the cards work-wise.

I already carry a Glock 9mm so why not get a smaller Glock for off duty and 2nd carry? Both are dependable, the 43 is actually more accurate, but dependability is the real selling point.

Its a good time to be buying compact 9mm's for carry. As long as the gun went bang I see about a 1/2 dozen I could learn to like to carry. But just cause my star is linked to Glock doesnt mean anyone elses "should" be. Theres some fine compact 9's out there. Its a good time to be a shooter.

Mine doesn't cycle reliably, so at least you're ahead on that.
