go to macys
walk to the men's section grab black bi-fold wallet buy it throw out the big plastic photo holder booklet or other weird crap in the wallet done get a credit card buy stuff with the card go on your bank website and transfer money from checking to the card every couple of weeks or pay the amount when the bill comes due /thread |

nope. the nature of my business is such that I usually get tipped out pretty well so the cash from tips tends to be my "walking around" money
for the record. I'm 26, not all young folk are opposed to cash. not sure where GD gets some of their "facts" about millennials |

I use cash from time to time, particularly when I'm trying to keep my expenses down. Using cash helps with this vs using a card.

I keep a couple larger denomination bills on me in case I need it for something (like card machine is down or power out etc) other than - card.
I stopped using cash when I had to go in an PAY for gas before pumping. No thanks. |

Old guy here. My stuff has been hacked a couple of times but I keep a close eye on things and have caught it so far.
Cash for most things. Credit card online. Debit card very, very rarely. I'm extremely leery of the phone pay thing. I'll wait and see what kind of scams, fraud and theft shows up first and let them work out the bugs. When I receive cash as payment (not as change) I check the bills as best I can. I pay all of my regular monthly bills online (mortgage, utilities, etc.), so I am not averse to technology. eta Trust no one. Everyone is out to take what you have. You have it, they want it. lol |

I use cash for most purchases under $5 and for tips. Everything else goes on the credit card.
Oh, and it's handy for splitting a single food bill among a group for things like delivery orders. I like to keep some cash on me and an emergency $20 bill in my truck just in case. |

Me, I prefer to get free money to use my credit card (points), convenience, and to have extra purchase protection while at it. It doesnt take some sort of special level of intelligence to understand that you are spending real money when using plastic and to not spend more money than you have. It is really simple. |

Sometimes even more. And yes I still use a CC at times and basically only use a debit card at the pay at the pump or the grocery store. Funny story that happened a few months ago here. Our mail room keeps a small amount of petty cash so employees can make change purchasing stamps for their personal mail which actually includes bills with checks inside.
So we had some young milleniel gal come down and needed a little over $3 in stamps and tried to use here fucking debit card...at work... for the purchase. Mail guy says we can't do that. Her ...I don't carry cash. Him..Sorry,no stamps. Frankly I am astounded people don't even carry $5-$10 on them.

iuse my credit card for online buying and at big buisnesses. walmart/ costco/ olive garden etc. i pay cash for small restaurants and usually anything under $20. both times i had my number compromised it was after eating at a small mom and pops place. never used debit cards in my life.

I'm in my late 20s. The following assumes you're responsible enough to pay off your CC monthly.
I usually like to carry a couple hundred bucks worth of cash for the times when the saying "cash is king" really rings true. However, 90+% of what I buy goes on the Avion Visa, pretty much, if the place takes visa, that's what I use. Why would I pay in cash when I can get points on a credit card? Whether you have a cash back card, air miles, some other travel rewards type card, you might as well be getting some sort of reward for spending your money. In my case, I've got enough points for several flights anywhere in the world that can also be used for hotels/whatever. That's probably close to $10K worth of "free" stuff that I wouldn't have had if I paid cash for everything. |
