So its that time of year again. bear season !

I was lucky enough to get this 220 lb fatty with the 44 mag. One shot, Bear down, and after skinning, quartering , and trucking back home i was able to whip up a quick snack.

be warned I'm cooking up the heart. It really is the most tender and delicious pice of the bear.

skinning out

i shot it about 100 yards behind me. what a beautiful spot !

packing out the meat and hide

along with the heart i tossed in the tender loin

first i made a asian marinade, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, and rice vinegar

tender loin

and for those who haven't seen one, this is a fresh bear heart sliced up

thrown on a hot grill

bam
sorry , no reloads, their buried in my bags somewhere

yes i know, i should clean my knife

happy halloween

Sorry, couldn't resist.  10/10 for 'kill it and grill it', but in reality I've got to dock a few points for lack of balance (especially roughage.  If I ate a meal that was just a couple pounds of meat I'd be shitting an ass-rending concrete brick the next day.)

What does bear meat taste like?

One of my go to marinades. Next time, consider mixing some red pepper flakes in there.

I prefer heart sliced, chicken fried and served with cream gravy...but that's me.

No possibility for negative points on minor technicalities.  When you one shot, one kill, and grill there are no dockable offenses.  Pure macho perfection.  OP is winning.

Nice, Bro!
I'm not interested in killing a bear, unless it's interested in killing me. But killing one with a handgun is pretty badass. Bravo!
The tastiest piece of meat I've ever had was venison heart, cooked by an old Frenchman. I wish he was still alive.
Happy Halloween, Bearslayer!

Looks like he had a huge head. I really like bear meat. We used to cure the hams and bbq the ribs. The rest went to stew meat and jerky.

Been a bunch of years since I kilt Yogi. I miss living where I could if I wanted to.

Congrats on a really nice bear!

Thank you ! this is probably the smallest I've taken. we didn't ever get an exact weight but had a decent idea that it was 220-230+ live weight

This is not a 10/10 dinner and I do not know how to rate it because my brain's inner dinner pic thread meter overloaded somewhere around 36/10.

Sir you have set a new standard for dinner pics.

That is awesome OP. 10/10. Black bear is high on my list, but elk is next in line.
I cooked up a chili with 4 deer hearts today. I am letting it sit overnight and then we will serve it up for lunch tomorrow. Heart is a really overlooked piece of any wild game. It is great fried, grilled, or in the place of ground meat.
