The list of required features has a definite smell of not-Glock to it. |

There are several other guns that could be easily modified to meet the proposal and the M&P meets it as is.....

Doesn't meet the compact pistol requirements. Their spec is no less than 3.75", M&P compact is 3.5". View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The P320 is striker fired. Personally I prefer a DA/SA pistol...or a good DAO like the H&K with a properly spec'd LEM trigger in it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Not allowable to have a magazine catch activated by downward pressure eliminates HK.

H&K should be able to mod the VP9 to an ambidextrous button...if they wanted to bother with it.
Personally I'm a big fan of the levers on H&K handguns. They work very well. |

the "barrel shall be a minimum of 4.26” not to exceed 5.20” requirement seems to exclude standard M&Ps from meeting the requirements.

There's still the issue of the Class I barrel length for the 9c, though. Good to see a high-visibility sight requirement. |

The FBI already knows what pistol they want; this is just how you demand a specific branded item yet appear to be open minded and soliciting bids.

whats wrong with what they are using now?
really. $85,000,000.00? |

I actally like the P320 View Quote As I said in the other thread, the M&P, the P320, and the FNS were the first guns to come to mind when I read the requirements (without checking dimensions). Everyone is different, but I would argue that the slide stop requirement C.4.8.d (inadvertently overriding the slide stop) eliminates just about anything Sig has ever made. That is my biggest complaint about their guns, and it's the only reason I sold my P226. |

"There shall be no method of manually cocking the pistol other than by pressing the trigger."
So the pistol would be DA only? The striker would be retracted as the trigger is pulled then released instead of the striker being cocked as the slide cycles. |

Eliminates Glock and M&P right off the bat. Very finely tuned set of specs. They know what they want. Local PD just went with Sig 320, haven't heard any reports from them yet. |

View Quote I believe most modern striker-fired designs are only fully cocked as the trigger is pressed. |

The aversion to a manual safety surprises me. Not seeing the downside to a properly designed one.

Side note: The P320 looks like a (hopefully) product-improvement of the epic failure the P250 was... Have they really worked the kinks out?
The concept is intriguing... Dunno about the execution. |

Glock will probably enter one without finger groves it wouldn't take that much.

View Quote I'm going to replace my Glock. After doing a lot of research and test firing friend's pistols, it's either going to be an M&P, a VP9, or Sig 2022 if I decide I want da/sa. The VP9 has a great deal going for it and it might be the best 9mm semi auto I've ever put my hands on. The ability to customize every aspect of the grip is the big selling point for me. |

I like grooves on a 19 but not on a 17 size, small hands. I'm the opposite. I didn't mind the groves on the 17C I used to own, but they just don't fit my hand right on the 19. I don't know if I have small hands, but its a solid Medium in Mechanix gloves size, so its not like they are monster mitts. |
