At my workplace, some coworkers were recently discussing how much stress can be attributed to following current events; and how much more calm and relaxing life one could live if they didn't watch the news.
My thought in reply was that ignorance of current events in the world around you leads to ending up like these Syrian refugees or the Iraqi Yazidis. Stick your head in the sand, the world goes to shit around you; and the SURPRISE! YOU'RE FUCKED! On a tangent, I wonder if the Amish communities in the USA perceive any difference these past 6 years? |

It is the same reason Gandhi was able to battle the British with peaceful tactics. He knew they were not barbarians, and therefore would be repulsed by barbarian tactics. |
