You think yours is weird? This morning I got a shipping notification/tracking notice on something I ordered in 2012 and already received in Jan 2013.
WTF??

I don't know if my email account is screwed up or the company I ordered from is screwed up.

I've had a first-class package take only 2 days to get from NY to ID, and I've also had a priority package take 6 days to get from CA to ID (sat in Anaheim for 4 days for some unknown reason). I've generally had good luck w/USPS but the last 9 months I've had more than one package "take the scenic route" on its way to me.

Who can know the ways of the USPS?  I don't even think they do.

I sent a package to my dad on Monday.  He lives sixty miles north of me. Pretty much a straight shot on the interstate.

The package went 60 miles SOUTH, sat overnight at the hub, then proceeded back up the interstate within 3 miles of my house to the destination 60 miles north.

The problem is that USPS got the new tech to "increase productivity" and now has workers that only know how to work with that tech.  When that tech craps out or hiccups the workers have no idea what to do.  They don't know how to get things from point a to point b without that tech.  And management is useless as always (nepotism/special favor/good in sack are means of promotions).

I'm old enough to have become accustomed to "allow six to eight weeks for delivery".

So, this obsession with tracking shipments publicly in GD strikes me as instant gratification nonsense.

Carry on . . .

How did it ship? It will be on the header on the tracking page.

There is a USPS shipping option that businesses use that is all ground. I just cant remember the name. It's akin to media mail and half the price of priority. Takes a good bit longer to arrive.

I had a eBay seller pull a bait and switch with that option on me. I paid for priority and he sent it by ground. I dinged him for it too.

Mine went to NY from ATL via SanFran. There is no method. If it gets stuck on a wrong truck it just has to ride it out until (if) someone notices. I don't even take tracking seriously. One time the tracking NEVER updated until it was scanned as delivered. Then BOOM 6 update points in one day appear.

That looks like a typical tracking report.

I'll bet it was put on a plane last night and is being sorted at your local PO right this minute.

When you pay for two day priority mail, you should get it in two days. No excuses outside of the plane or truck crashing and burning to the ground.

The part buyers usually miss is a vendor's  "handling time". Just because a vendor generates a shipping label that shows up on the USPS tracking site it does not necessary mean it was picked-up much less will ship that day.

While I agree that I like getting what I pay for more than most I see these constant "Mah Package"  threads as more than a bit childish.

I'd say 95% of the faux USPS "issues" are shipper related. Either that or the buyer was too retarded to send the correct address.

There's a big difference between "expected delivery date" and "guaranteed delivery date". You want guaranteed then pay the extra for it.

They miss the expected delivery date so often they may as well just stop giving people an expected date. My last 5 or so USPS packages were a shitshow.

The last one was expected on a Friday. They bumped it up to Wednesday as it showed up in a nearby hub quickly. Then it sat there and finally was delivered on the following Monday.

I used to swear by the USPS. But lately I've nearly lost all confidence in them. I'm a bit more tolerant than most with shipping issues since I spent time working in a UPS hub. But USPS just needs to go away.

You could be right. The sender did say they put the correct address on it, although I have no way to verify it. The package hasn't been returned to the sender either so who knows where it is. They sent me another one anyways so I don't care either way.
