Can't forget Captain Lou

He was active as a professional wrestler from 1953 until 1969 before becoming a manager until 1995.

I must be REALLY fucking old then, because I remember watching Capt. Lou when he was a wrestler.

The Grand Wizard was a hoot.

I used to love Mr. Fuji and Professor Touro (SP), Tanaka as a tag team.

Their dirty move involved throwing salt in their opponents eyes, then they would pummel him.

Occasionally, their opponent would duck and Fuji  would end up throwing the salt in Tanakas eyes (or Tanaka throwing salt in Fujis eyes).

I met him, Wahoo McDaniel and Dusty Rhoades at the local convenience store one night. They were headed somewhere after a fight in Lynchburg, VA. They had bought a shitload of beer and wine.

The WWE is having a bad couple of months.  Roddy Piper dead, Hulk Hogan on video making racist remarks, Snuka arrested,
a stalker shot at a training facility, and one of the female wrestlers fired for putting pics of swastikas on her instagram.

Anybody who's an old school wrestling fan should watch the Iron Sheik documentary.  He was a hard working guy.

He had all the respect from Backlund as a real athlete.   Backlund didn't like the arrival of Hulk Hogan whom he didn't respect as a true athlete.

Similar story here, back in the early '70s at a 7-11 (the only convenience stores here back then). I was just a teenager.
Back then the Waycross City Auditorium was a frequent stop for the wrestlers on the NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling TV shows.

Dusty, Buddy Colt, and Bobby Shane. Again, many libations were purchased and it seemed a good time was being had by all.

Bobby Shane died in a plane crash a few years later, that almost took Buddy Colt too (he was the pilot). But as far as I can tell, Buddy Colt is still alive.

But we lost Dusty recently. Of all the wrestlers that have come and gone, only Dusty's passing really saddened me.

I read Junkyard Dog died in a car accident driving to a daughters graduation or something like that. JYD and Hillbilly Jim were a couple of my favorites back then. Everyone has known Snuka was a murderer forever. Amazing he stayed with the company but Hogan uses the N word and he's wiped.

I'm at a loss how this sat cold for so many years.

Detective: "Your girlfriend is dead; the coroner ruled it a homicide and mate abuse"
Snuka: "It wasn't me"
Bag of $100 bills change hands

Let's not forget GLOW.
I was stationed at Keesler in '86 or '87.
On the weekends we would go get a hotel room by the beach  and get drunk and act like 18 year olds.
GLOW (Gorgeous Lady's of Wrestling ) was in town and some of the not so gorgeous ladies were staying at out hotel.
Mt. Fuji, who that night wore a leopard patterned toga, beat up a guy we were drinking with.
Good times!
