This.

I don't understand why anyone would use a consumer bank in this day and age.

If you don't go the credit union route, check out Simple.

Keep your bank, get an American Express?  They'll overnight replacement cards to you.

I think Chase will issue new debit cards at most branches.

Both of my banks (Chase, CapitalOne) will give me a temporary card on demand.  Takes a few days for the permanent card as it has my team's logo on it (LSU).

Why are you using a Debit Card as opposed to a Credit Card?

They probably have temporary cards for the time being...

At least that was the way it was years ago when I needed one.

Check and see if BB&T has a branch in your area. Read the article. It just may be your kind of bank.

If you qualify for membership, Navy Federal issues regular debit cards on demand at any of their branches.  Makes getting replacement cards a breeze.

Smaller bank or credit union.  I shy away from BoA, Chase, Wells Fargo and some other big banks.

I've never had the good fortune to find a smaller bank or credit union that has the online banking features that Chase provides me. They allow me to do whatever I want with my money. Make and receive payments, transfer funds, deposit checks, and other handy stuff...on my iPhone.

Hell, whenever a charge is made against one of my credit cards I get an instant text message and can assign a spending category to the transaction. The instant notification would also alert me of unauthorized use of my cards.

My Chase card has been hacked many times.  I was never offered a temp card.  Who do you have to blow to get a temp........................

I would switch to a credit union in a heartbeat if there weren't a Chase on every corner here with ATMs.  They are also in my main grocery store, and a block from my house.  They have never done me wrong.

Replacements have either been over-nighted, or the last two times were UPS'd in about 4 days.  They send them to my house, which sucks.  The driver will leave it on my front porch without even touching the doorbell.  I caught the fucker both times.

It is good to have a back up plan.  I have two CC with Chase and a Debit.  I also have a separate AMEX and a few other backups that aren't activated.  Getting cash isn't an issue because of so many bank branches.

If your bank isn't local, I can see where you may have some issues.  I couldn't find any Credit Unions with cash-back-for-purchases cards, but maybe that has changed????

Try a credit union?

Many credit unions simply print new cards while you wait.

My credit union told me my replacement card will take two weeks.

Up to 15 days to get my money refunded after my account got hit with a fraudulent charge.

OP, I feel your pain. I belong to a CREDIT UNION and my card got stolen on August 11th. I canceled the card and the credit union said I'd get a new card in 7-10 days. 15 days later I had the new card; yesterday. This morning I try to activate the new card and it was fucking deactivated. As in UNFUCKINGUSABLE. I call the bank and they shut the card off because I used my birth date, my social to activate it. They then tell me I had to use my wife's birth date and social. What the hell is that?

That sounds shity, my bank gives me a temporary card until the real one is sent, but with my CCs linked to my account I just use them and pay as I go like normal. I can't even remember the last time I used an atm, but I get cash from side jobs.

Credit union.

Walk in, walk out in 1 hr or less with new account and card in hand no charge.
replacement cards free and they don't change me to send me my paper statement every month.

Just find a bank or credit union that actually wants your business.

I've been a CU member since I was 16. I've never once been charged any "service fees" or any other BS. I opened an account with Suntrust a couple years ago since we refid our mortgage through them and have had to put up with more BS than I can stomach. The accounts are getting closed soon and I will just mail them a check for the mortgage. I'm glad I kept my primary accounts with the CU.
