Meh, maybe it'll cut down on retarded riots. If it really starts I don't care how big a knife some dumbass straps to his rifle, he'll never get close enough to me to use it.

Who cares? If you're in bayonet range of anyone you have chosen poorly.
Why bayonets? To keep people from grabbing the muzzle! Next question.
If you let people get shit for free without any justification or real oversight then many of them will just get shit they don't need? Who could have predicted such a thing.

Don't care what cops get, as long as citizens get the same.
By the way I still want an MRAP. |

I seem to recall being in awe of PD Obamabayonets during my first year of membership here.

Depends on what they are doing with them. Issuing them to fix to rifles, bad idea. Issuing them to put in first responder gear for tornadoes, search and rescue, disaster stuff, fine.
Contrary to the hype and label, it's just a freaking knife. A knife that was already in the system and is being reused rather than money spent on a new one. |

I got enough shit on my duty belt sure as hell don't need a bayonet hanging on me for 8 to 10 hours.
I'm a lot more concerned about giving a bayonet to somebody that doesn't train with one. That's an easy way to lose your stick and get stabbed with your own shit.

Hmm, never heard of any PDs asking for bayonets. View Quote No shit...we dont have any and I dont know of any agencies locally that have any. Pretty sure I would have seen them up in Ferguson... I have however, heard many times of a St Louis City officer who worked in what used to be the 7th District, (North side of town and not a nice place to visit) who would carry a spear. Allegedly, his rationale was "When you get out of a car with a spear, these muthafuckers think you're crazy and they wont mess with you." Supposedly he kept it bungy corded to the light bar so he could get it quickly..... |

There was a bit of a glut of bayonets on some of those gov't/police auction sites not too long ago.
Hmmmmmmm. |

Fucking pointless. Unless a PD promises me they'll actually stick some fuckers who are burning shit down. Then I'll buy a bunch and give them out at shift change.

Well, to be fair, a mounted bayonet does say, "get the fuck away from me" pretty effectively.
Of course, I'd wager if they did give out 12k bayonets, the majority soon found their way to an auction site or local surplus store. |
