This is the third spider of this type I found in my basement today; the first two surprised me in the shower this morning and they got smashed with a can of shaving cream.

Any idea what kind it is? Poisonous?

What works best to kill these mother effers and keep them out?

Wolf spider...

I don't know if it's poisonous but I wouldn't eat it to find out

bug spray works

Meh. Step on it if it bugs you that much. Otherwise, just let those go...they eat other bugs.

I've got those here too. Spraying the outside of the house keeps em out.

Fuck spiders.

#spiderlivesdontmatter

I would recommend nothing smaller than .40.  If they are on the move, .410  #9 shot works best.

Did the temperature outside change? If not, there is something in your house that they have found to eat.

If you want, kill the ones you see, but don't go looking for them. They are doing more good than you can think.

Do not listen to this guy.  This spider is a trained killer and a master of deception.  You need to find a weapon, preferably something that can cause serious blunt force trauma, like a sledge hammer.

Better yet, get some kerosene, and soak your house in it.  You know what to do.

THIS IS CRAZY, try it. Put on an led headlamp and walk out in your yard at night. The ground will sparkle, take a closer look, they are all these spiders looking back at you. Their eyes are very reflective. I lived in Fl and had thousands in my yard, I have since moved to NC and I have even more here. Enjoy, it's freaky as hell.

Grass Spider. They look similar to Wolf Spiders, but aren't. They spin funnel shaped webs with a flat sheet in front of the opening.

I went camping down in North Carolina a few months ago. Sitting around the fire pit and then I saw about ten billion spiders crawling up my leg... needless to say I slept in the bed of my truck that night.

Maybe I have some weak bug spray but the wolf spiders in my house don't seem to mind it at all.

Grass spider. They will bite, but it's. Not dangerous. Like a mosquito bite reaction

Don't use glue traps.  They trap everything you don't want trapped.  It's a freaking harmless spider for fucks sake, people need to grow a set of balls and man the fuck up and not turn into screaming little girls around spiders and snakes.  God help us if the shit hits the fan and a spider crosses the path of some of the nutless wonders out there.

Yep!!! And it has to be a headlamp, whatever light you use has to be close to your head to see the reflections, holding the light low won't work. Almost like blue/white sparkling diamonds! A few days a year you can see thousands of them all over.
