So lets see where Germany was immediately after ww2 in 1945:

- Most of the country bombed to shit, including infrastructure, factories, not to mention residential

- Huge number of males age 18-35 killed in action (Most important demographic decimated)

- Government collapsed

- Country split into two, east and west, each under different systems of administration

- Entire world pissed as shit at Germany for starting ww2, including superpowers Russia, USA, UK, etc, not mention Nazi warcrimes like holocaust

- massive debts owed to countries for starting the war

Now, barely two generations later 2015, Germany is an economic world superpower, incredible standards of living, very high HDI (human development Index), high GPD

so Germany can turn around this fast from such a dire situation and you're telling me there are African countries who have been independent for 200 years, with billions of dollars of aid thrown at them and they still cant provide clean drinking water for their citizens?

This.

For the record, North Africans (Egyptians, Carthaginians, Numidians, etc..) were some of the most advanced peoples in the Ancient World for the longest time.

Sub-Saharan Africans....not so much, aside from a few notable exceptions.

There have been humans living in Africa longer than anywhere else on Earth, yet they're one of the least developed regions.

They'd be even worse off if colonialism hadn't happened.

I know someone that has done work in Africa and he basically said that everyone they dealt with there was trying to either cheat them, or kill them. He said that they do want success but they don't want to work for it as it would be easier to steal or kill for it.  No concept or value of long term investment.
Basically just give it to me now.

Beautiful country and if they could ever get their shit together they could be a huge power in the world with all their resources, but they're impatient.

Between that and the whole running around in loin cloths hunting with spears while the rest of the world was entering the industrial revolution.  That kind of speaks to the different cultural mindsets.  Innovate and expand vs. This is how we've always done it.

Yep, great comparison. Look how the Middle East is doing. Only thing helping them is readily accessible oil that barely has to travel a few hundred miles before being loaded into ships.

Kind of like the various nations of the Americas, they too are all sorts of fucked up because of European imperialism and colonialism. Asia too.

No Marshall Plan for Africa.

Geography of Germany is night and day different than Africa.

In Africa, you don't have a lot of mountains that feed rivers down into valleys with high precipitation yearly, with deep sea ports near the mouths of those rivers.

In Africa, you don't have people united by common language integrated with their industries, supporting each other well-quite the contrary.

The US also didn't take any of the nations of Africa under her protective wing, commit to rebuilding, and maintain security to the present day.

Please explain the effect this has on domesticating the zebra. I argued with my brother about this. He said do you think for a minute that if the U.S. had a zebra population that they wouldn't at least be pulling wagons. I had to yield to his logic.

Race, Evolution and Behavior: A Life History Perspective---Mass Market Paperback, by J. Philippe Rushton  (Author)

Using evidence from psychology, anthropology, sociology and other scientific disciplines, this book shows that there are at least three biological races (subspecies) of man Orientals (i.e., Mongoloids or Asians), Blacks (i.e., Negroids or Africans), and Whites (i.e., Caucasoids or Europeans). There are recognizable profiles for the three major racial groups on brain size, intelligence, personality and temperament, sexual behavior, and rates of fertility, maturation and longevity. The profiles reveal that, ON AVERAGE, Orientals and their descendants around the world fall at one end of the continuum, Blacks and their descendants around the world fall at the other end of the continuum, Europeans regularly fall in between. This worldwide pattern implies evolutionary and genetic, rather than purely social, political, economic, or cultural causes.

Even mentioning that this book existed almost got me thrown out of my Sociology class.

Germany didn't fully recover until the 1980s but Africa suffers from many ails that will take along time to fix.

Few African countries have a stable government to enforce contracts which is the bedrock for economic growth.

Sub Saharan Africa was essentially thrust into the future with colonialism. They were 10000 years behind the europeans.

His professor coined a term, he posted it here several years ago. Surplus of Harsh Environment or Deficit of Moderate...I do not even know if I am close. It was in a thread about Hawaii and it turned to how come the Hawaiians or Polynesians never really advanced beyond what would be considered a hunter/fishing/gathering existence...Answer, they did not have too.
