Just like they may get a really good tip, they may also get nothing. It's to be expected especially if someone waited an hour. It's still shitty, if the server did s good job. For all we know they got really crappy service.

That being said, it is not the servers fault the kitchen is slammed. Take care of your server, discuss the kitchen issues with the manager. |

As a auto tech that dealt with Customer Satisfaction Index surveys, even if I fixed the car correctly the first time and done everything perfect, all it took was the service writer,cashier,porter, their own kids to piss them off and bomb my survey. That's part of it. I controlled what I could control and the rest was out of my hands. It was what it was. I didn't bitch about it on the Internet. |

I like to tip well, but I also expect good service.
The waitress isn't responsible for the quality of the cooking, but they are responsible for getting the food to the diners and getting the order right. The one major area where a waitress can lose her tip from me is if she delivers an incorrect order and did not take the time to write the original order down. That tends to result in "If you can't remember things, write them down." being written in the "TIP" section on a receipt.
