Would that work instead of a shotgun for birds?

Tracers would be cool.

That way your position could be computed from the tracer tragectory.

Would the affect of a 4 round burst of 62 grain SS109, all on target, deliver the same terminal affects as a 248 grain round at the same velocity?

I think I read somewhere that in Ga. you could hunt with F/A.  Key word here is "think".

Landmines at deer rubs. How's about making cows legal game. Gives grazing fire a whole new meaning. Or artillery on massed penguins.

You can hunt water buffalo with RPG-7's in Cambodia, and hunt deer or elk with AK-47's in the Russian Far East.

I could be wrong here, but I thought that those wild game hunting preserves like the ones with the exotics in Texas did not fall under the Fish and Game regulations, henceforth, the animals could be hunted with any type of weapon.  Also, if a landowner gets a Depredation (sp?) Permit to erraticate game due to a farming hardship, he can kill the animals by any means.

Now I could be wrong here, but thought this was the case.

My cousin mowed down a couple of kangaroos in Australia with an M2. Of course, he had to join the Marines to do that. Is it worth four paltry years of your life?

Last deer season my friend found a deer shot about a dozen times. It finaly bled out from all the wounds none of the slugs killed it.If weekend warriors will do this with pump-action 870's and semi auto 1100's {all plugged down to two round in mag+1 in chamber) what would happen if these half-wits were allowed to use FA m16's? They shoot up hills not knowing what is on the other side across state routes and highways{I have personally seen it} at deer.a rifle round will go farther than a slug plus if you are spraying you are gonna put a number of rounds in the air that might come down on some kid playing out in his yard somewhere

Kinda Off-track (albeit more appropriate then the original thread) - but isn't it a damn shame that in the "golden age" of elephant hunting, hunters mastered the art of the one shot kill. Now it takes a team of thugs with automatic rifles to accomplish the same thing - that is sad.

Here in Louisiana, you can legally hunt big game with a machinegun.  I can't say that I've ever heard of anyone doing it though.  It is illegal to use a machinegun on migratory game birds anywhere in the U.S.

Bastard...
This guy must be 15, and recently watched a Nam movie.  An AR-15 is for the two legged kind of prey.  People.  It was made to wound too, not kill.
I'm not one to be into hunting unless I'm starving, but I respect people who give the animal a chance.  All I can see someone wanting to hunt with a machine gun for is to kill.  I mean, you can't eat whatever you riddle to death.
I just think if your gonna hunt, and your not really starving to death, you should make it a sport.  Not a slaughter.
Just my two cents.

forget the big game. It's ground squirrel  season in Idaho and rock and roll is the name of the game! If you you realy want to spray and pray on BG here in Idaho here is the deal. Get yourself a Gat trigger(it works pretty well as three round burst or more)and practice till you get reasonably adept at using it. The rate of fire is near that of an outoloader and is legal on big game in Idaho.

Hey troll boy.

FA is ILLEGAL in KS, so don't bother coming here.  Try sticking with steel plates and paper for targets.  Where I live, the folks with semi-auto (and bolt action for that matter) put enough rounds down range to screw up most deer hunts, let alone a guy with FA.

Try hunting with a SNIPER rifle?  I shoot a Remington 700 PSS in 308 Win with a 3rd Gen Springfield Armory scope.  Does that count?  By the way, I dropped both of the deer I harvested this year with ONE SHOT each (one through both lungs and the other through the mediastinum).  Pretty good "sniping" I guess.

Several years ago a friend of mine watched while an Arab body guard blasted away at Sand Grouse.  And last year's hunting regs for Alaska banned the use of full auto on small game...  don't know what the status is for ole griz...  dare ya to try!

FA is illegal for big game in Colorado.
However the way they keep bending the rules on the snow geese, I expect mortars will be allowed in the 2002-2003. Those flocks are humongous.

down a deer with a Thompson SMG.
I think in Jersey.

Screw the full-auto, call Arty!

sigman,
that's why an M16 with a Beta-C mag would be perfect. If you miss with the first round then you have 99 followup shots!

That's a common misconception. ARs were made to kill. The US military spent a lot of time developing the .55 gr FMJ bullet and designing it to keyhole at a 75 degree angle upon impact with the human body, maximizing the damage it can do. The tested and reworked and tested it again, on anesthetized pigs at Fort Dix I believe, until they got it right. They used high speed cameras viewing the entry and exit wound areas, as well as high speed x-ray camera to record the bullets behavior as it traveled through the pig. They wanted soft point performance out of an FMJ, and they got as much as they could possibly get out of it.

Well, I know they sure don't like it on their ranges and they are marked.

Full auto is frowned upon, but is legal in Texas, provided the gun itself is legal (Taxed and Registered).

I knew a guy who spotlighted rabbits with his FA MP-5.  He said he called the game warden first, got the run-around.  The guy finally told him it was legal, but not to do it.  Go figure.
