Guys,

There's a lot going on in the world right now....financially, politically, etc.

Some good news or positive views would be nice for a change.

Do you feel optimistic about the future?

If so, why?

Thanks.

Generally speaking, no, I'm not optimistic, but I'm trying really hard to be.

I don't buy the gloom and doom "Book of Eli" future that some people seem we are going to have. I just think the more people there are, the worse the future is going to be. It seems like the jerk breed of humanity is multiplying faster than everyone else.

I have been a pessimist for 50 years (I'm almost 57...).

I have been wrong but rarely disappointed.

No. Why would anyone be? Sheer ignorance? Reality disconnect?

Last week, the door was still open to optimism - but honestly my hope died with King v. Burwell.  If 6 "Justices" can openly and illegitimately collude to that end, twisting both law and language to no meaning, then our Constitution is dead, we have no rights left, and its only a matter of time before open tyranny reigns.

The fact that Kennedy followed up that path with Obergefell less than 24 hours later is not insignificant, and does not build liberty for anyone, has nothing to do with discrimination against homosexuality, and everything to do with collection and exertion of non-legislative power against the principles that built an America in which everyone could live with freedom.

Amusingly, I have the exact opposite reaction.  My future isn't looking so bright, but the USA seems like it'll be ok.

I am. I am married to a wonderful woman and have a beautiful one year old daughter. My wife and I both have stable careers that we enjoy and are good at, and I am halfway to retirement in the National Guard. We recently sold out starter house in the city and bought a modest house on a dirt road in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains less then a mile from my family farm. I am three classes away from finishing my degree, and have a guaranteed fall-back career option.

Of course I have worries about the future of the Republic, and having lived paycheck to paycheck in the past, I will never stop worrying about finances. I've had set-backs and have had to work hard and fight tooth and nail for everything that I have in life. My challenges have given me confidence in my ability to care for my family and weather any storm that life may send my way. The Marxists can try their damndest to destroy this country, but as long as there are families like mine and people like those on this site, the American dream will be preserved.

I am an optimist who is grounded in reality.

Real life, looking out the window and around town...not much that worries.

Headlines are a no-man's land of hype, mis-direction and manipulation.  IOW, lying.

The press worries me.  How they think they will be better off hitching their wagon to progressives is beyond me.  At a certain point they will no longer be needed.

Yes, the future is going to be fabulous! I don't know about the damn unicorn farts, but if the present is any indication the future will be full of fucking rainbows!

I see increased taxation, more govt. intrusion, and growing social programs that I don't qualify for but am expected to pay for in my future. I'm slashing spending across the board and stuffing every last available penny into investments because social security won't  be there, my pension is not guaranteed, and I don't want to be eating cat food at 70. Then there are the doom and gloomers saying I need arable land, precious metals, and a bunker full of beans, bullets, and bandaids!Oh, I almost forgot. Every 3 months there's some mass shooting or bombing or govt. regulation that makes me run out to buy mags, m855, 7n6, and preban water heaters!

I'm very optimistic.

Last week the USSC made it possible for our nation to make great strides along the path to the Brave New World.
Thanks to the justices the journey is nearly complete.

I came here to post this.  I work to put myself and my kids in a good position, which is all I can do as an individual.  The bigger picture isn't as bright, but I have less control over that one.

Every day I lose more and more hope that my son will have a brighter life than what I did growing up in the late 80's-90's. The gov't is beyond out of control, race relations set back 25 years, economy, in general, in the shitter. An election of The Butcher of Benghazi, Killary Klanton would put the final nail in the coffin of my pessimism.

Although lumped in with the Millennial category, I don't fit with them, my "generation" is full of completely useless special little snowflake fuckstains.

I've been around long enough to have watched this country turn exactly in the direction that my dad and others of the Greatest Generation warned us about.

I am extremely pessimistic for the future of this once great country.

Generally speaking, we are in a death spiral.
