You mean like the entirety of the US military?
I always got confused which was which. I fucking hate it. Shit, I still don't. So today is 30JUN15. See, how can you fuck that up? You can't. |

I read somewhere (I forgot where) that most loads for the .30-06 perform best out of a 26" barrel. Can one of our resident ballistic guru's confirm/bust this ? ZiaRifleman, or someone?

When did the WTC fall to Osama?
9-11 or 11-9? I rest my case... |

I'm a database guy, so YYYY-MM-DD makes way more sense than anything else.

I like two formats: 2015JUN30(YYYYMMMDD) or 30JUN2015(DDMMMYYYY), doesn't matter, unambiguous. or 20150630(YYYYMMDD), simply because it sorts alphabetically in date order. |

And that's pretty unique to America... Rest of the world (and our military) does it Day/Month/year and if you really want to get fancy: right now it's 30 0840 Jun 15 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Rest of the world (and our military) does it Day/Month/year and if you really want to get fancy: right now it's 30 0840 Jun 15 Which means my YYYYMMDD makes even more sense: YYYYMMDDHHMMSS (for you non-Excelling peeps, that a four digit year, 2 digit month, 2 digit day, 2 digit 24hrs, 2 digit minutes, and 2 digit seconds.) And it still sorts alphabetically by date order, and time. The only reason to use a 2 digit year again, since before 2001, will be 2032. Now it's ambiguous, has been for almost 15 years, and will be for another 16 years. |

Fuck it. |

The only reason there is ambiguity is because there's no standard.
Since you guys like the military method, maybe we should let the government dictate the acceptable date abbreviation. By forcing a single standard, there would no longer be ambiguity. |

When you put the month first, you give a better frame of reference. Telling me it's the 24th day of a given month doesn't really help me place the date. I have to envision 12 different 24's. There's nothing inherently special about the numeric day itself. But telling me it's January first, I know that it's winter, it's cold, the days are shorter, the year just started, and I can get a better frame of reference on where in the calendar year we are. Telling me it's the 24th before telling me the month, leaves the whole year WIDE OPEN.
I feel it makes more sense to specify the month before the day for the reasons above. The year can go in front or in the rear...in some ways it's very specific and in others it doesn't matter. Knowing the year first will help you place the event pretty well...so 2000 tells me we've passed Y2K and the world didn't end yet (phew). Ultimately, the MM-DD-YYYY fits in more with the way we speak. People are more likely to say June 30th, 2015 than to say: 2015 day 30, June In the year 2015 on the 30th day of June Day 30 of June 2015 30th of June 2015 So on, and so forth.... So it makes more sense to me to put the month before the day, and finalize this with the year. Furthermore, you guys are batshit crazy. This was supposed to be more of a 30-06 thread than a calendar abbreviation thread. |

It makes far more sense to look at the data as YYYY-MM-DD and order it by that format. |

November 12th, 2013 12 November, 2013 2013NOV12 12NOV2013 Or you could just keep going on about 111213, or 131112, or 121113, etc... |
