As I'm sitting out on my patio at my apartment, I am trying to have some peace and quiet and can hear the neighbors TV. I don't really give a shit, but it brought me to the question, who pays for the shit that is on TV anymore? The History Channel is reality tv now and the newstations are their own form of entertainment over news. How many of you guys actually pay for this shit anymore?

Eddie murphy paid for a TV and got busted when he found a dilflicker

We usually have a few shows that we watch, but it's getting to the point where 90% or more of what we watch comes from Netflix/Hulu.
We're moving over the next few weeks, and we're heavily leaning towards just turning off the cable service and sticking with only internet. It just feels like a waste of money. |
Poll fail.
You asked 1 question and polled another: Do I pay for TV? Yes. Do I watch TV. No. |
I haven't had any sort of TV service in the house for at least 10 years now.
Define TV.
Pay for cable? no. Watch TV programs from various sources including Netflix and Amazon? Yes. |

I pay for Netflix and the occasional show on iTunes or Bluray, and I watch the Bengals OTA.
That's about it. I stopped watching the news about 2008. |
I rock the rabbit ears. Never paid for TV. Many cable channels offer their shows for free streaming via their website next day.
Big shows like GOT, Breaking Bad, etc, I've always known someone who pays for cable who has big watch parties. Price of admission is usually beer, appetizers, chips, buns, etc. No different than a weekend BBQ. Just bring something to the party. |
I don't recall when there's been more fun stuff on tv. Rome, Deadwood, Sparticus, GOT, Penny Dreadful, True Detective, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, A.D. the Bible Continues, The Bates Motel, Supernatural, Falling Skies, The Waling Dead, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, Ray Donavan, American Horror Story, Banshee, The Knick, Strikeback. etc...
Yes, I'd like not to have the bill, but to be honest, we don't go out to the movies hardly ever anymore. Sort of pays for itself when you look at it that way. Then there's Netfilx, Amazon Prime, Roku, Hulu, Chromecast, and Youtube. Take my money already. |
yes
Im not cool enough to NOT watch TV anymore I only watch the movie channels thought STARZ, FLIX, MAX etc |
I am aware that there is this invention called "television," and on this invention they show shows.
But that's about all. |

Quoted: https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/i_dont_own_a_tv.png I'm single and have at least 4 TVs, but I use Roku for my regular watching. View Quote Graph is inaccurate. Seems that arrow should keep going up, especially if GD is an indicator. |

The first 48....road racing ...and football......that's about it
I ditched Directv several years ago, but I have Netflix so technically that is paying for tv.

No. All I use my TV for is to collect dust, at which it serves admirably. |

Rabbit ears here too. Shitcanned cable years ago, don't miss it at all.
Have Neflix, but rarely watch anything aside from documentaries/history stuff |
I have a TV set and have not had cable for over a decade or internet Netflix or anything like that. I did just get an el chepo aerial for it, now I can watch Andy Griffith, Car 54, Gunsmoke, Star Trek, Superman, Wonder Woman, and a Christian station. |

Nope. Nothing worth watching, free or pay. except for vikings, black sails, game of thrones, the walking dead, archer, and modern family. All available online. |

Broadcast and cable are dead. They just amassed a large enough pool of money to stay afloat until they perfect how to fuck you over with their internet pricing structure.

Nope. Hell, I don't even own a TV.
When I go over to friends houses we sometimes watch TV and it consists mostly of scrolling through the guide screen when commercials are on (which is nearly constantly). |
Sure, on my computer or via netflix.
Cable TV is going to be as anachronistic as a plug-in telephone. |
I live in third world america, so yea TV.
TLDR: Dialup only here. 5 miles from cable. Isis and NY prisoners have better access to sex and internet than I do. WTF. No "awareness for me." Just as well. I don't need the bill. |
Football, I used to watch Jeopardy but it's been about 6 months.
Cancelled cable 3 years ago, antenna only now. |
not really....there are a couple of shows I'll do some marathon watching of mid season or post season finale, but thats about it.
Movies on television? Forget it..they are so heavily edited it seems that I just don't see the point. Used to watch tons of television also, and would have have it on in the background when I came home from work but these days i don't do that. I prefer peace and quiet. |
Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu all through my TV.
Dumped satellite years ago and don't even remember the last time I watched any broadcast programming. |

No, the issue is greedy networks DRMing the shit out of their content to the point that I can't even DVR most of the channels I pay $100/month for. |

Unplugged all but 1 it because it stays off and still draws electricity. Wife watches netflix on the other one.
Rarely. There are maybe 5 shows I keep up on....maybe. I play video games instead. TV is absolutely crap these days. I keep it for the wife and kids
Fox News, rodeo, bull riding, hunting shows, and open wheel racing are about it.
Some short-run specials are okay -- Vikings, Manhattan, The Last Ship, etc. |
