Car insurance, what limits you guys carry?



I carry 500 K across the board

We had a family member who got into a pretty bad accident some years back with one of our vehicles.

He caused the accident and the property damage went up to $49875.00

We only had a $50K  limit back then.

So if you hit a Mercedes worth $200 K and only have $50k you're screwed  

Pretty scary thinking you can lose your house over a car accident.

2 things happened after that, we raised our insurance limit to 500 K and we never lent out a vehicle ever again.

I had 100/300K liability/comprehensive, 25000 medical and 100/300K for uninsured/underinsured..and it wasn't enough for the big accident I was in..wishing I had 500/1mil  100K med and 500/1mil for under/uninsured... but thats spendy..better idea maybe my original coverage along with a  1 mil.catastrophic policy...

250/500/100 with a $2mil umbrella on top of that.

State minimum.  I live on the edge.
