I looked to see if this was posted before.
85 year old arrested for blowing up bomb in neighbors yard Weapons, bomb books found in Fl home Tarpon Springs, Florida — Investigators on Tuesday released new information in the case of an 85-year-old man who allegedly lobbed a hand grenade into his neighbor's yard that damaged a concrete slab and the house. Police say this is a very scary situation. Investigators found grenades, a Claymore antipersonnel mine, machine gun and more. The mine is designed to explode outward and kill whatever is in front of it. That claymore would have been good for our upcoming 4th of July party.

What was he supposed to do with it mess up his own porch and house? Seems logical enough to toss it over the fence.

If he had a live grenade I wouldn't doubt a live claymore. I want to set one off but am uninterested in prison. Didn't get the chance in the Guard. Closest I came was inert trainers. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Looking at the pictures I wonder if the claymore was real. If he had a live grenade I wouldn't doubt a live claymore. I want to set one off but am uninterested in prison. Didn't get the chance in the Guard. Closest I came was inert trainers. From the report it shoulda like he had a few M67s. |

I wish that guy was my neighbor!
We would get along just fine! |

Got attacked at up < 25 meters with claymore in place but safety conscious leadership had us keep wwires unplugged and connecting it would have probably given me a head canoe...waisted opportunity. . Eta. We won though. |

When I'm 85 I,
A.) want to still be alive B.) have a grenade and C.) have the strength to throw it I HAVE MANY TARGETS IN MIND.... |

The guy sounds like a kook and is a convicted felon, but he gets style points for how to deal with your shitty neighbor. I mean lets be honest here. If I make it to 80, possess a hand grenade, and have a shitty neighbor, well you can do the math.
Thank god that the police there stopped John Rambo before he went on any more rampages. Chief Robert Kochen says that just how Metz was able to amass all the weapons is under investigation. But he does say law enforcement officers are lucky they got to this man when they did. "I would say this is extremely concerning. I mean this is, we don't even know what he could be capable of," Kochen said. "We're still conducting this investigation, we have a lot of agencies involved, but this is absolutely concerning and law enforcement did a great job in preventing whatever this gentleman may have been planning to do or would have done." How bad do you have to piss someone off to get a grenade tossed at your house?

I was wondering the same thing. Where is the rest of it? The spool, the switch, etc. To me it looks like a training dummy or an Airsoft Claymore. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

FWIW, I bet exactly one nickel that the M-67 grenades are inert too. Also; The BDA of a frag grenade in the open on a concrete pad is not very dramatic either. Either this guy went full tard and improvised something, or it was just pyro. If this cat is exonerated and only guilty of tossing a cherry bomb or other firework...we will never hear about it. I am reminded of the bullshit LAPD gun buy back with an AT-4 (clearly marked INERT) sticking out of a shopping cart or whatever-all over the news. The anti's don't care. "Those NRA fascists are giving rocket launchers to children!" I also bet the geezer had legally purchased everything on the evidence table. Doubt the old man was a big Silk Road user. He is assumed guilty. SOP in the media. |

Oh my god! He had the Anarchists Cookbook!
He really did want to kill (himself). |
|
Meh.
I'd be impressed if he had sector sketches/range cards at every window. Did he know where his dead space was? Where did he have his final protective lines set? |
|
|
I like how they show his stash of badges. Like he's going to impersonate a police officer carrying his suppressed Mac 11 and hand grenades.
|
|
The old boy is a convicted felon with quite a criminal history that dates back
to the '40s. |
|
I wonder if that is my Mac11 that disappeared from the police evidence room

I've been waiting for this thread for days. I heard this on the radio right after the bust. Figured there wasn't much to it as it didn't make GD news service in ten minutes or less.
My dad would love to have claymores and grenades. He is only 82 so his neighbors are safe for 3 years. |

According to ATF and other LE...because they are always right. Always. Really. Presumption of automatic guilt aside, and assuming that LE is factually correct....how fucking hooked up, mobbed up, and connected do you have to be to get a AARP discount on explosives? |
