The engine has 2 oil filters and 3 fuel filters, the air filter is the most expensive at roughly 50 bucks. An oil change requires 22 quarts of oil. |

Sorry can only add my M416 restoration for now
Never did bother taking any photos (or at least digitize) of any of the CUCV's I had 
I got sidetracked into a CJ-7 Project after this was completed (started with the 416 since it is truly multi purpose) Just started the search for the next project, also really torn between am MBW/GPW or M151 (since I have a service history with the MUTT). But, since I have a 1919 it would be uber cool to do a MBW/GPW (and plus I have some photos of my Grandfathers Jeep in the ETO) |

Manpower and cost. We were using the Huey's and tanks selling rides to finance the rest of the collection After 9/11 we had to stop running the tanks. So we lost money. Then the Huey got screwed by the FAA and we lost our exemption so that dried up. Then dad got cancer was sick for 4 year and died. |

When I left the Military in the early 90's, I kind of survived on hustling all sorts of flotsam and jetsam from DRMO (when it used to be good before it went to GovLiquidation). Anyway, two semi-complete M48 hulls (no power packs but complete running gear and interior) were going off at Picatinny and I found a complete turret in Maine. Talked to the SSGT who ran that DRMO site and we went over the whole demil process for Tanks and what had to be done via the instructions. It was way more than I would have been able to handle at that phase in my life, even though I had easy access to transport and shop facilities required so I never bid (and they went for around a grand or so) Was this one repaired after demil or was it an export? Really really cool!!!!!!!!!!!! |

When I left the Military in the early 90's, I kind of survived on hustling all sorts of flotsam and jetsam from DRMO (when it used to be good before it went to GovLiquidation). Anyway, two semi-complete M48 hulls (no power packs but complete running gear and interior) were going off at Picatinny and I found a complete turret in Maine. Talked to the SSGT who ran that DRMO site and we went over the whole demil process for Tanks and what had to be done via the instructions. It was way more than I would have been able to handle at that phase in my life, even though I had easy access to transport and shop facilities required so I never bid (and they went for around a grand or so) Was this one repaired after demil or was it an export? Really really cool!!!!!!!!!!!! Dad and I set up a 501-C3 museum and were approved. We asked Army Tank Command for a Tank. They released us an M-60 out of the General Dynmamics tank plant in Detroit. It was complete and running. It had an experimental turret a bit different from the normal tanks and was built in about 1975 IIRC. We also applied for a limited demil of the weapons system only. We were approved, otherwise would have had to remove the power pack and weld track when we got it home. As I said before we made money selling rides, did parades, and gerneally had a blast until 9/11 when the Army shut us down. I did get to give Col Robert Morgan his first tank ride. My 1986/1989 M1031 Shop Equipment Contact Maintenance vehicle. CUCV 1 ton Chevy K30 with HD suspension for a maximum 9200 pound gross vehicle weight. NP 205 transfer case with Muncie PTO driving a 12kW Lima MAC generator. Also came with a 7 CFM air compressor. All function like new, it had 9009 original miles in 2012. Generator had 2.7 hours on the Hobbs meter.
The truck was in storage until 1989 when the bugs were finally worked out of the PTO governor system design and Able Body Company installed the box. I met one of the designers of the system a few weeks ago, just in odd chance. I use it for fence repair on the farm and as a mechanics truck for the MVPA club I belong to. It supports my Miller Dynasty welder just fine, while not period correct, it is even better than the old Miller XMT originally supplied with the truck. I have added a rear view camera, electric trailer brakes, receiver hitch and AIR CONDITIONING . The AC is a 24 volt powered contraption I designed and built myself. Draws 70+ amperes at full power and is a variable speed compressor, 1200 to 3000 RPM. |
