Any of you current military types handled an FN manufactured M-16? I am curious what type of markings they have on the uppers and lowers.

I read on the magazine board that FN uppers are being sold at gunshows. I think I will go to Tanner this weekend and see if I can find any. I guess they also sell FN mags in wrap, but I would check the date.
If they sell the uppers, can the receivers be far behind.

Are these real FN uppers or the unmarked uppers sold by J&T, Model 1 sales, etc.?

i was told by a colt armorer that to id a fn upper is to look at the very front of it just about the gas tube - if you see concentric rings - then it is fn military spec.  uppers stamped 4 or m4 might not necessarily be a colts!

On the left side of the magwell is the FN logo, a FN inside an oval. Underneath is Property of US Government, serial number, and M16A2, Cal 5.56 NATO. Above the trigger pins is stamped FNMI, Columbia, SC etc, like the old Colt's Mfg Hartford Conn text. Safe Semi Burst around the selector. To the best of my memory - I don't own one. [:(]

You're correct, Ramblin'.  That is what I've seen on the lowers.  Haven't checked the uppers.  By the way, the A@ I'm  issued at my unit is(at least the lower)  a rebuilt Harrington & Richardson A-1.  I will cry when they retire it.
