I for one wouldn't own up to your age much less mine. And DonR is only 79.5 [;)] [;)] [;)]

I will be 50 in May.  Got my first gun in November 1999 (due to the Y2K scare).

OK, 54 last March.  Shot my first AR (M16) at Fort Campbell, KY in Jan. 1970.  The training cycle before mine had M14's.  Our DI's had no clue how to do the manual of arms (drill) with those funny little plastic guns.

72, and I bought my first gun this year!  I have lots of great-nieces and nephews to keep me young, or was that tired...

My first gun was a Marlin Model 60 22LR.  I bought it to teach my little relatives how to shoot.  They are very surprised that guns don't randomly kill people.  A few were even afraid to be in the same room with a gun while it was being cleaned.  The oldest of my great-nephews quoted a statistic he learned from US history that said more americans had been killed cleaning guns than in war.  This type of brainwashing is what made me go out and by the rifle in the first place.  I'm now building an AR-15.  I have all of the parts, and I'm working on a 6 week wait on the lower receiver from Oly.  If I ever receive it, I'll have my first AR!

57 on June 3rd & been a shooter for 50 yrs, bkz I learned from my dad. Yeah..dads lived at home back in the 1950s!

Funny, I grew up with at least six guns in open racks in my den. None of them ever got down and went out and shot up a school or anything... We didn't mess with 'em, bkz we knew how to shoot 'em and they were not curiosities..and we'd get our a$$es whipped big time IF we touched 'em without dad right there.

Carried a pocket knife to school for years..as did all my friends..nobody ever cut up anybody at the school either. Nobody had ADD either..if we had a problem paying attention, we got 3' of fargin OAK across our a$$es RFN! Nobody on drugs either. Public school in Memphis, TN..graduated 1962.
