because oil is going up

Summer blend reformulation.

The refineries shut down in the spring to reformulate to the EPA mandated summer blend. Fewer refineries = lower capacity = lower supply with static demand = higher prices.

YMMV

It always goes up in the spring/summer because people travel more. More demand for it. And that oil thing.

It's a good day. Diesel is 2.47 A
and gas is 2.67.

Probably because of summer coming. And Baltimore.

I think it has something to do, vaguely, with supply and demand.

I'll grant you that there's some fuckery that goes on with oil production and distribution but the principles are at play nonetheless.

You know all those oil pumps they have been installing in the western states......

....They are turning them off to drive the price back up.

Basic economics.
Goods are produced when profit is high. Goods are not produced when profit is  low.

Here it has gone up 30 cents in under 2 weeks, and no one has said shit about it!  What gives???

MAYBE it has to do with the fuckin' EPA and their summer blends, I don't know because even the local news hasn't said shit about it! But I damned well know the gas stations that was raising their  prices by 3- 5 cents per day weren't selling the entire contents of their underground tanks (10,000 gal +) in one day and replacing it the next with another tanker of higher priced gas.

I went to town for the first time in four weeks yesterday and had to buy gas, it didn't hurt so bad because it is still a lot cheaper than a few years post Katrina.
